His last operation, in which he won the Victoria Cross posthumously

This is a bit clumsy and needs to be changed for accuracy. Only about three people have ever "won" a VC. This was usually the result of a unit award and the practice was to award it by ballot to an individual. I would suggest that the section simply be titles "Last Mission" and leave it at that.
