Clean up
[edit]I'm in the middle of cleaning up the article, to try and bring it up to the standards of Other West Yorkshire Towns; Refs to be improved later. If you think you can improve on the article in any way, or object to any of the changes, feel free to edit the article or discuss here. Nigholith (talk) 00:51, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
Robert Dempster and his ironworks
[edit]I came here looking to link to info on this man or his business as part of working on Gas Stripping Tower which they built. I understand it was a significant manufacturing business in the town. At the moment I am linking to Edith Pretty a granddaughter whose article makes brief mention of them. Kerry (talk) 07:59, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Rather then just creating a page title to redirect to the Edith Pretty article you could write an article on The Iron works, or Dempster himself. The ironworks was known as Rosemount Ironworks. Robert Dempster & Sons was bought out in 1963 and became Oxley Dempster Ltd, which was then closed down in 1971 and eventually became a housing estate. Dempster himself originated from Cupar, in Scotland and died in Conway. You can find some info on both from the following websites:- http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Robert_Dempster_and_Sons - http://nick-myurbex.blogspot.co.uk/2011/03/elland-gas-works-building.html.
