[edit]Caused by the death on 21 March 1936 of Alderman Ernest Frederick Martin Sutton (Liberal, elected as an alderman by the council on 1 May 1929).[3][4]
In his place, Councillor Wright Robinson (Labour, Beswick, elected 1 November 1919)[5] was elected as an alderman by the council on 1 April 1936.[6]
