Borrowed from Proto-Saka *kámardu (head), from Proto-Iranian *kámr̥dah (head).[1] Compare Bactrian καμιρδο (kamirdo, chief god), Old Khotanese [script needed] (kamala), Avestan 𐬐𐬀𐬨𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬜𐬀 (kamərəδa).
