Etymology confirmation
editI was under the impression that the etymology of widower was widow + wer (Middle English word for a male person), that is, the masculine equivalent of a widow, instead of widow + -er (suffix used to form an agent noun). A widower isn't a person who creates widows, in the similar sense that a murderer is a person who creates murders. Can this etymology be double-checked? --benlisquareT•C 00:20, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
