Wikipedia:WikiProject Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms

Welcome to WikiProject Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms on the English Wikipedia. We are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to the people, settlements and history of the Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms from 410-1066, covering the formation of the Heptarchy and its evolution into the unified Kingdom of England, and to their cultural, historical and political legacy, both in myth, legend and in modern times.

This page and its subpages contain a number of suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

Goals

edit
  • To create the foremost reliable and accurate free-content encyclopedia of Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms in the English language.
  • To improve coverage of Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms by creating, expanding, and maintaining articles that describe all of its aspects.
  • To provide guidelines and recommendations for such articles, and to serve as the central point of discussion for issues related to Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms in Wikipedia.

Scope

edit
Mother Projects: WikiProject England, WikiProject European history, WikiProject History and WikiProject Middle Ages

WikiProject Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms was founded to support the improvement of articles dealing with the period between the withdrawal of Romans from the British Isles in 410 AD until the effective loss of Anglo-Saxon control of England following the Battle of Hastings in 1066 in the region that would become the unified kingdom of England. Though primarily focused on the Historically studied aspects of this period, this project also wishes to improve the coverage of its modern historiography, fiction, literature and cultural repercussions.
