Lamech
editI did that so that whether they are the same individual or different, they can be discussed on one page. I think "Lamech" is the best title for the article, and have requested an admin move it. It seems like you are more concerned with the wording at the intro implying they are the same individual; I was not responsible for that, but I'll reword it so it makes it clearer what the distinctions are.--Cúchullain t/c 00:33, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- The page is moved to Lamech now, and I have rephrased the intro. I hope you find it less objectionable now.--Cúchullain t/c 03:12, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't see that anything was missing; the Mormon stuff is still there at the end. But the page histories are now merged, so you can check and make sure. --Cúchullain t/c 22:00, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod
editI see you try your best in writing the page , Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod. However, there are too many Chinese words which are not needed in the article. So I will remove the address of the churches written in Chinese from the article.
And Wikipedia is not the yellowpage. If we want to inform the reader by adding the websites about the contact numbers and the addresses of the church of "Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod". So I will remove them from the article. Shrimp wong 04:41, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Wikipedia is not the Yellowpages. This remains a troubling question because Yellowpages may be hard to find for certain people. You seem to have a kindred heart in developing this article. It would be nice to meet you in person some day.
- Also unfortunate is that the official LCHKS website does not provide this directory information which is quite valuable to travellers and others who wish to do some research prior to their visit.
- Perhaps the Chinese words can be moved over to a linked Chinese language article? That is my ambition as soon as I have time to do it.Ep9206 20:00, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
I have changed the yellow page link to Hong Kong Church Web Page which provide this directory information. You can have a look to see if it is better. The List of the Church( in Chinese, some words are translated in English Shrimp wong 04:27, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
- The Hong Kong Church Web Page works okay unless one's reading of Chinese is limited. Perhaps the redundancy of the Yellow Pages listing would be good for English language reading.Ep9206 19:27, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
In response to your query on my talk page. I have been providing some organization to the Category:Lutheranism and its sub-cats as a part of the WikiProject Lutheranism. One thing that happens as articles are created is that they often wind up in a sub-cat and the parent category - I have tried to remove some of this redundancy. Thus, for example, I added Lutheran Church—Hong Kong Synod to the most descriptive and specific category - Category:International Lutheran Council members. The article was still in Category:Lutheran denominations, as the ILC cat is a sub cat of it. This is common practice. So for example, people are listed in "Lutheran clergy", which is a specific sub-cat of "Lutherans by profession" and thereby is included in Category:Lutherans. -- Pastordavid 18:46, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. What would happen to denominations that belong to both ILC and LWF? or to denominations that do not belong to any global church bodies? I am not convinced that this attempt to streamline categories, that are more descriptive or specific, actually works. In other words, this dichotomy of sub-cat's and parent categories may not actually work. I am in favor of "redundant" categorization if it is not a repetition.Ep9206 20:20, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Denoms. in both LWF and ILC (there are very few) belong in both cats. There are many, many broader categories in which one could put such a denomination. Category:Christian denominations, Category:Christian group structuring, Category:Lutheranism, Category:Christianity, and Category:Protestantism come to mind. However, such broad categorization defeats the purpose of categorization altogether. Lutheran denominations which do not fall into either the ILC or the LWF belong in the Lutheran denomination category. I have asked another editor who does a significant amount of work with categorization to have a look at this discussion and weigh in. -- Pastordavid 23:21, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Forbidden City - History
editHey, thanks for contributing to Forbidden City's history section. Just wanted to let you know - in case you haven't discovered it for yourself - that there is a main article on History of the Forbidden City. Under the "daughter article/summary style" system, the history section in the Forbidden City article should be a summary of that article. If you have new information, please consider adding it to the History article as well. Thanks again, --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 00:56, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, also a friendly note that one of the sources you inserted, http://www.chinatownconnection.com/forbidden-city.htm, is actually a copy of an earlier version of the Wikipedia article. Cheers, --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 01:38, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
impossible translation?
editThere is a discussion going on whether the name of that German church body can be translated or not (it appears like this on the english pages of this church's homepage). One user changed the name of this Church (actually a federation of several Lutheran, United and Reformed churches) and it's regional member churches to the German form because he says their names can't get translated. so the article on the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria now appears under its German name because he says the "concept" can't be translated into English. Please go to the discusson page of the Evangelical Church in Germany and have your say --93.130.249.56 (talk) 02:17, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
