This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. As you are in Australia but with no location identified - is there anything you would like to add in any way to the Australian conversation in relation to the Cycle 2 stage - either on wiki or off?

I do think your contribution is important due to your strong edit history and presence in the Australian editing community - I am tidying up my report in the next day or so - so I am not asking for an essay - any words in relation to what the strategy or anything that you think is important relative to strategy, I would be interested to hear about - thanks JarrahTree 01:41, 11 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note. The situation was one of close paraphrasing: the content was extremely close to the original, a derivative work of it, and not merely an independent writeup containing the same information. That's the reason for the deletion. Feel free to follow up with me, of course, if you wish. Nyttend (talk) 00:54, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Close paraphrasing is a copyright infringement; if it's not a G12 case, it's an IAR case, since "improving or maintaining Wikipedia" definitely includes the removal of illegal content. Nyttend (talk) 01:08, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Boneymau.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Elsa Marshall-Hall.

edit

Dear Boneymau,

Google [[1]] includes no less than 52 references to Elsa Marshall-Hall more than enough to make the person notable. I hope you agree.

Regards, Albert Isaacs (talk) 04:18, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I don't agree Albert Isaacs, there are established benchmarks for notability and 52 references in Google is not a principal measure. But it's not up to you or me individually, it's the consensus of the Wikipedia community. And there are quite normal processes to confirm or challenge notability. Don't take it personally. Boneymau (talk) 07:13, 12 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear "Boneymeau",

Elsa Marshall-Hall has 29 of her compositions preserved, mainly in the Grainger Museum. I believe this shows how important some people regard her!

Hi Boneymau,

Thanks for your edit. I agree with your assessment of the amateur theatrical roles being not noteable. I edited the article, left out the line about her amateur theatrical career later in life and replaced the "Theatre" heading with a new one, now only listing roles Olivia Harkin played in productions classed as "Pro-Am" by AusStage. Do you agree with this edit? (I do not want to start a warring here, =)).

Deletion Debate

edit

Dear Boneymau, I appreciate your comments on the recent page deletion request. Was it still up for discussion? I wondered if you would reconsider your delete suggestion given that new sources were added, and that you felt: "The one material issue is whether the radio work including the award is sufficient as WP:NCREATIVE. Hi MagentaSwann, that debate is now complete and the closer (who is not me) determined a Delete result was reached. I am not going to reconsider my delete suggestion. You are free to pursue a Wikipedia:Deletion review if you can argue it is relevant. Or maybe just take a step back and appreciate why others have come to the conclusion that the subject does not have sufficient notability against Wikipedia benchmarks. Cheers.
