Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Andypandy.UK! Thanks for weighing in over on Kmf164's request for adminship. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and Manual of Style.
- When you have time, you can peruse The five pillars of Wikipedia, and assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always be mindful of striving for NPOV, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Andypandy.UK, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 21:35, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Notes to you
Stop editing the myg0t page removing Battlefield from the mention of games we play, we generally have many people playing it at any given time. 130.184.184.81 19:26, 19 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for voting on my RfA
Thanks so much for voting! Thanks so much for voting on my request for adminship. I have decided to withdraw my nomination as it seems that consensus will not be reached. If you voted in support, thanks for putting your trust in me to be a good admin. If you voted in opposition, thank you as well for your criticism as it will only help me be a better Wikipedian and perhaps help if/when I apply for adminship again sometime in the future.

A landslide victory for The JPS (aka RFA thanks)
Hey, Andypandy.UK/Archive 1, thank you so much for your vote and comments in my RfA, which passed with an overwhelming consensus of 95/2/2. I was very surprised and flattered that the community has entrusted me with these lovely new toys. I ripped open the box and started playing with them as soon as I got them, and I've already had the pleasure of deleting random nonsense/attacks/copyvios tonight. If I ever do anything wrong, or can help in some way, please feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will do my best to correct my mistake, or whatever... Now, to that bottle of wine waiting for me... |

Hi, you recently left an originalresearch tag on the myg0t article with no accompanying explanation on the talk page. Next time please explain why the tag was added, so the article can be improved. I'll leave the tag there for now since I know you have good intentions, being a frequent contributor to the article.

Hey. You reverted me in this edit. Please be careful when using pop ups to revert because... well, you reverted something you shouldn't have. Template:Commonscat is used to link categories from the commons so taht you don't see it display as "Category:Mobile phone". It wasn't vandalism so be careful. gren グレン 22:59, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Counter-strike surfing Vandalism
Hi, in response to your message: "Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Counter-strike surfing. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Andeee 15:46, 24 April 2006 (UTC)" Well, I don't know what do you mean by "nonsense", but the only thing I recall changing was sv_airaccelerate 100 to sv_airaccelerate 10, because 10 is the USUAL value of that c_var, not 100... almost every surf_ map can be done with a sv_airacc. value of 10 and so is the value in the 20 or 30 surf servers I've played. I don't know if you ever played surf_ maps, but next time think a bit before telling someone he's writing "nonsense". Thanks.
- The sentence was stating that the value for surfing must be 100, and the default value noted in the following brackets, you changed the 100 to 10, which is wrong. I don't think there's ANY surf maps which you can properly compete in with 10 sv_airaccelerate. All surf servers use sv_airaccelerate 100 or higher. --Andeee 19:40, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
--> Me again, it's not a problem of what you "think", maps can be done with sv_airacc 10, period. FFS, even surf_ninja can be done with that value... anyway I won't lose sleep time if you can't change your mind, no problem.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.128.43.149 (talk • contribs)

- You offering help then! :-) On some articles when I try to revert vandalism/nonsense it fails to work. I try with popups and manually and nothing happens according to the history. Have any explanation for this? Thanks. (this message is also on Tango's talk page).--Andeh 16:00, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Hi! I don't know the particular circumstances, but that can happen when your new version is the same as the current saved version. So, if you're reverting vandalism, someone may have already reverted to the previous good revision, which is what you're trying to revert to - this will fail to save and leave nothing in the history. If it's something else, then I'm stumped - you might like to ask at the Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) if it's much of a problem. Cheers, Tangotango 16:02, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
- Aha, that's probably the reason then!--Andeh 16:03, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Accusation of vandalism
Hi Andypandy,
You have accused me of vandalising the wikipedia article 'Women's Weekly'. In my opinion my change added value to the article.
To give this some context, the article is about a magazine called the 'Women's Weekly' which is currently published every month. The casual observer would wonder why the magazine continues to be called 'Women's Weekly'. The explanation given within the article is weak: 'The Australian Women's Monthly just didn't have the same ring to it.'
In my opinion, I successfully clarified the reasoning with subtly and without vulgarity. This was done simply by linking 'Women's Monthly' to the article that describes the phenomenon of the human condition whose colloquial terminology shares this alternative magazine title.
This is not vandalism, but a clarifiant. Perhaps its subtlety was lost on you? I will re-instate the change, and if you would like to discuss further please do so on the discussion page.
Regards, 222.154.226.33

Silverwolf Comics
Thank you for "updating" the "candidate for deletion" tag you put on the Silverwolf Comics article I just created. At least your explanation was fuller than the first tag put on by an earlier user. I was looking thru defunct comic book publishers when I saw Silverwolf Comics with a red link. I knew a little about this publisher, so I decided to write what I knew. It's significance may not be significant to you, but it is to any fans of Tim Vigil. It is very similar to articles such as the article for Texas_Comics and there are thousands of articles I am sure that meet the same criteria. Please get back to me about what I can do to lose this tag. Malnova 09:51, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Andy. I was viewing the Xbox 360 page and noticed somebody had put up a bunch of junk like "chuck norris" and what not. I started to erase it and part way through I think you just reverted the page to a previous good state. Attack page speedies
Thanks for removing the content while tagging, gives me a nice non-attacking deletion summary for the deletion log. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 23:11, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
- The above comment is meant as it is written, without sarcasm, an honest "Thank you". Your removal of the page text of an attack page gave me this auto-deletion summary, much better than "content was: {{db-attack}}John Doe eats babies and has a small penis!". I don't like it when the text of a personal attack appears in the deletion log, where it will be visible forever (unless a developer intervenes to remove it), so I have to manually edit the box in such a case. Kusma (討論) 00:24, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
- I think attack pages are a reasonable exception to the rule of not blanking a page when applying a speedy tag. Attacks should be removed on sight, nobody who is attacked by a Wikipedia page should have to wait for an admin to clear out cat:csd. Don't worry about misunderstandings: they're probably my fault anyway (as I am not a native speaker). Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 00:35, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
