Been a long day

Was up most the last night because of the baseball game I went too and then I been doing stuff on another wiki so my thoughts have just been all over the place. It was funny though. :) --Shane (talk/contrib) 00:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pradip Somasundaran

Hi Alphachimp. This is a difficult one. I read through the article and all the references cited in the AfD. If he is a playback singer in 6 Malayalam movies as claimed, he may be borderline notable. I wish I were more knowledgeable of Malayalam movies. Tintin and thunderboltz may be. I've left messages on their talk pages. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 05:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Keele Peak

Hi Alphachimp. I did not realise the French article was a copyvio. I have now rewritten and shortned the Keele Peak article, and I believe you will agree it is no longer a copyvio. I would appreciate if you would remove the speedy deletion tag, since I am not supposed to do it as I am the original author. Thanks. Luigizanasi 06:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

What I did was to translate the French Wikipedia version at [1] into English. I had nothing to do with writing the French article itself, which seems to have been translated from the bivouac.com page. My translation of the French Wikipedia version and the original weren't exactly identical; if you compare my original translation and the bivouac.com page closely, you will see that there are a number of differences in phraseology. Note that I'm not arguing it wasn't a copyvio, but that it was a completely unintentional one as I assumed the French Wikipedia article was OK. It was a good catch on your part. Luigizanasi 06:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

english (metric) in the Elephant article

FYI, the Elephant article is not consistent in its use of english (metric). I counted 7 instances of metric (english) and 13 instances of english (metric). So while it leans more heavily in the direction of english (metric), the single edit does make that one paragraph flow a little better. Probably what needs to be done now is convert all the references to one form or the other, but I don't want to start an edit war (especially in the midst of Colbert vandalism), so I'll leave it alone for now.—GraemeMcRaetalk 17:00, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for drawing my attention to the units of measurement section of the Manual of Style. Since neither I nor the person whose change you reverted probably knows which is measured in which is derived, the best thing is to just leave it alone. (Though I could guess that 7000 kg is measured and 15400 lb is derived, just because of our habit of doing the mathematical calculation that, in this case, triples the number of significant digits without adding any actual accuracy to the measurement. Another famous example of this is the supposed human body temperature of 98.6 degrees. Any nurse knows it varies from about 97 to 99, so how did we come up with that precice number? It happens to be 37 degrees C, converted to F.) —GraemeMcRaetalk 17:18, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

In answer to your question, "did I see the Colbert Report show," yes I did. I agree with you that it was funny. It's what drew me to the elephant article. I knew vandals would be drawn to it as well. I wanted to see how creative the vandalism would be (and was disappointed in that regard). I also knew it would be necessary to uphold Wikipedia's well-deserved reputation for accuracy. I was pleased to see more true Wikipedians than vandals responded to Colbert's call.—GraemeMcRaetalk 17:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your great work in moderating the discussion in the elephant article, you are truely a great wikipedian and I would vote for you to be an admin. --Thax 22:39, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pradip Somasundaran

I don't know why you are still insisting on deleting Pradip's article. Can't you see the number of votes which he has recieved from the ordinary people of Kerala. It is people like you who destroy a man's credibility and fame in 10 minutes which took him a lifetime to create. You put your silly opinions on AFD such as google hits and what on but the poor ordinary working class people of Kerala who find relief in the music of such greats such as Pradip will look down upon you. You still see darkness when the light is shining upon you —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.216.191.84 (talkcontribs) 23:17, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

AfD

Ta for the star. Moral support in diffult situations is a great contribution.

Re. closing AfD and non admins closing, it's quite clear that non admins can close unambiguous keeps, so I'd advise you to get stuck in there. I'll certainly back you up, and if you want to close, and then give me the link to confirm you've acted correctly (or otherwise!), I'd be happy to do so. I'd say 5 keeps and 1 delete is unambiguous, assuming equal weight of argument, likewise 8 keeps and 2 deletes, probably 7 keeps and 2 deletes would also be safe: it's hardly no-consensus. It will be a good test of your judgement, and the fact that you are willing to make decisions and take responsbility for them. Closing AfDs on already deleted articles (from speedy for example) would also be to your credit and save the admin time. Don't forget to remove tag from article page and leave the right info on the talk page. Tyrenius 02:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

But you already sent the weekly newsletter, mboverload!

Well this is important, so suck it up.

RegExTypoFix is now completely built into AutoWikiBrowser

Yes, that's right. My little project has now been integrated into Wikipedia's most famous utility. This expands my reach to around ~250 active users!

  • But mboverload, what does this mean? - It means that Wikipedia is going to suck less! Yay!
  • What do I do? - Download the latest version of AWB and go to More Options > Enable RegExTypoFix. Then go to then in the Start tab > Summary dropdown box select RegExTypoFix
  • What happened to including your name in it? How am I going to praise you with every edit? You mean "mboverload's RegExTypoFix"? Oh, just stick it in there, and complain on the AWB talkpage if you want my name in there standard =P.
  • How did this come about? Why wasn't I told? - Because it was secret. I have known about this for about a week I think. Putting my typofixing into AWB was suggested in the talk page, however people talking about including spellchecking in AWB has gone back awhile. Martin, the creator and only developer of AWB, informed me and I was absolutely flattered. I now have developer access to AWB so I can update AWB with the latest RETF without having to bother him.
  • What about updates and the newsletter?
    • All updates are just going to be small files with the latest new words and fixes. When AWB updates just throw out the file until I release the next supplemental update.
    • I will be releasing the full RegExTypoFix, however it's going to be in the format that AWB uses it and not in its settings xml format. It's way easier to read, though.
    • You'll still be getting the newsletter, full of keen insights into the wiki hivemind and commentary on mind-body meta relationships.
  • mboverload, how long HAVE you worked on RETF anyway? I estimate 50 hours. Using my most accurate method of finding and verifying typos nets me 20 new lines an hour. This does NOT include the hours I've spent testing it.
  • Where can I find a list of typos to fix? User:Mboverload/RegExTypoFix/full
  • Whore-much? Silence you republican neo-con communist hippie! --mboverload@

You seem to have written it into monobook.js correctly. I'm not sure what browser you're using, but press Control (or Command)-F5, hold Shift and click on the refresh/reload button, and then try again. WP:RFBOT's

I'll try to get to some of these tomorrow. I was purposefuly avoiding some of the items, making sure the others in the b/a/g had time to be involved. I just recently got approved to approve bots, so didn't want to go overboard on it. All of my approvals didn't have an edit limit, it really depended on the task. If it was a task that could result in a huge number of edits it could be problematic (2 edits a min for a week is >5000 edits). I have been pushing to get more bots in to at least the trial phases though. — xaosflux Talk 01:23, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It was basically a blog post about how awesome the next Carnival will be, and based on his other contributions, probably a copyvio as well. Sorry for not explaining better in the delete summary. --Golbez 04:47, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The copyvio was in the article history, but the person claims he owns it anyway, but it doesn't matter - it deserved to be deleted as totally nonencyclopedic, and he's now been blocked as a sockpuppet of someone who did this before. It counts as recreation of deleted material. --Golbez 04:55, 4 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

August 6th, 2006 WP:RETF update

Note you are getting this because you are signed up on the RETF spamlist
Hey guys. Before I do anything, I have to thank all these people who have helped me make RETF more bug-free via my challenge to them on the Language noticeboard. Some were redundant lines, and some were words that probably never appear in Wikipedia, but as I said, I don't want any false positives in RETF.

THANKS GUYS! Now for the fixes and suggestions put on the RETF page:

  • 'behaviour' is a legitimate UK English spelling --Guinnog
  • 'councellor' to 'councillor' when 'counsellor' could be the intended word. --mattbr30
  • "Costal" is a real word, meaning "related to the rib" —Mets501 (talk)
  • 'judgemental' to 'judgmental'. According to my dictionary, both are equally acceptable. mattbr30
  • 'Adaptions' to 'Adaptations'. JoeSmack Talk
  • repond and variants -> respond --Guinnog

RETF development

I don't know what to say really. Something has come up and I might not be able to continue to update RETF after the next week or so.......I have put in countless sleepless nights of just me, my computer, and a case of Rockstar energy drink working on this. It has made me feel that I really am a devoted Wikipedian.

I have developed RegExTypoFix from a little hobby of mine into a full SourceForge project. I told a friend that I’ve worked 50 development hours in all. I have a really bad sense of time, but I’m sure it was more. I won’t lie, I am very proud of my work. Hopefully this will be used long after I leave.

To ensure that, I need a person/people to become admins on the RETF project. I don’t ask that you do anything but fix any errors that people report. There is a bit of a process to doing this, but I can teach you. Please send me a message on my talk page. Please my close friends only please, I hope you understand that I want to 100% trust this person. However, I might just hand it off to User:Bluemoose, as if he didn’t have enough on his plate =D.

Download + more

User:Mboverload/RegExTypoFix/updateboxTo keep an eye on RETF, you can use {{User:Mboverload/RegExTypoFix/updatebox}} and it will produce the box you see here =D. When AWB updates, I can turn it green on command =P

Extract Typos.xml from the zip file either using the zip extraction tool provided with XP or use 7zip.

Under the new system that Martin (User:Bluemoose) developed Typos.xml is separate from the settings file. This way it can be easily swapped out and doesn't interfere with your own personal find and replace settings. Put it in the AWB directory. It is loaded automatically when you start AWB.

In addition, each Typos.xml file comes coded with a version number. Perhaps in some future release AWB will be able to check to see if there's an update for you!

The latest version is not built into AWB, you will have to download it here Just updated a few minutes ago. --mboverload@ 01:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Speedy tag removal

It is my understanding that the speedy delete tag removal workflow is: place "hangon" tag so the article doesn't get speedied, explain reason in the article's Talk page, and remove both the speedy and the hangon tags. In short, removing speedy tags isn't vandalism as your bot's message indicates. It's simply a way of saying that the speedy is contested. The next logical step for you would be to review the talk page and see if you can find anything compelling on it. If not (or if the editor didn't bother to comment), then nominate the article through the AfD process - as per any contested article. Of course, until someone explained this to me a couple of weeks ago, I posted the same kinds of "don't remove speedy tags" notices you did. Let me know if I've got this screwed up. Rklawton 01:54, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry 'bout that. It's probably this one [2]. Indeed, the "drmspeedy" template may be based on the wrong idea. Um. Or on the other hand, I've got my head on backwards today. At any rate, if you'd let me know how this is supposed to go, I'd appreciate it. Under the "assume good faith" idea combined with speedy removal, and one might interpret the action as "speedy contested" (with possibly no reason provided). Let me know what you think. Why was I banned from Wikipedia? please write me an email: XtheBandit001@AOL.com i got the following message when trying to edit: "This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Category talk:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of WatchtowerJihad, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Cleaned up "Speed cubing"

Hi!

Yesterday, I went and overhauled the Speed cubing page, and I was wondering if it looks cleaned up enough to have the "Cleanup" tag removed (your bot was the last one to do anything related to the article, and so from what I understand (and I'm new here, so please correct me if I'm mistaken in approaching you), I should ask you about removing the tag).

P.S. (Again, since I'm new) How would I go about changing the title of the article to "Speedcubing" (one word), as opposed to "Speed cubing"? Both redirect to the article, but from what I understand, the one-word term is used more frequently in the speedcubing community. And, if it were changed, how would I make sure that both redirected to the same article?

Thanks! --Twilightsojourn 12:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Just a gentle reminder that we'd still like the architecture category bot request doing if you'd be so kind. Many thanks --Mcginnly | Natter 15:09, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alaibot note

Hi -- I just happened to notice that you'd warned User:Alaibot, which surprised me, so I checked the diffs. As far as I can see the bot didn't do anything wrong, at least not on that article. You might look at the history of that article. It seems something misfired -- perhaps VP2? I'm a VP user myself but am not familiar with VP2. Anyway, it's not really my business, but I thought you'd want to know. Mike Christie 13:52, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. As you could probably guess, I've been beta testing VP2. I suspect the issue is coming from me browsing or something during the process of warning. Incidentally, the reverted edit is indeed vandalism...It's just that I warned the completely wrong user. I'm going to bring it up with AmiDaniel when I speak with him tonight. Thanks Again (and it is your business, by the way....I really appreciate people calling me out on things like that). Regards, alphaChimp laudare 20:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the updates; glad to hear it was a useful report. No need to keep me up to date with future changes -- I'm sure it will get sorted out. I look forward to using VP2 after it gets cleaned up. Ciao -- Mike Christie 21:10, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

http --> https

Where is the mandate to change those links? Unless the CIA website has changed format to be HTTPS only then it seems odd to require our visitors use the authenticated version of there site.

Users in embargoed areas might not possess good enough encryption to view those pages...

Thanks, ---J.S (t|c) 23:34, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Try accessing any of the old http links. The mandate is by the CIA, which has changed their whole site to https, presumably for security reasons. There's no way at all to access any of the old links. Here's an example:
old link: http://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/
new link: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/
The change wasn't elective, it's mandatory and breaking a lot of links (over 1600 links, actually). I'd appreciate if you responded on my talk. Thanks, alphaChimp laudare 23:40, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
My goodness... that is quite silly. And we get to pay for all that extra hardware and bandwidth... is it ok to break WP:CIV when dealing with a goverment agency? :) Thanks for responding. ---J.S (t|c) 23:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

purpose of edit

Dear sir or madam,

I was contacted by you in reference to a deletion I made to the Energy Drink Discussion page. While I probaly went a bit too far, in deleting both my own, and "Teadrinker's" portions of the discussion, I feel the need to explain myself. I feel that Teadrinker has made a number of patronizing (bordering on disparaging) remarks regarding my personal website in the discussion (generally related to his/her opinions on web design and usability as they relate to my personal site). I feel that these comments are of no value to wikipedia or editors of the Energy Drink page, and simultaneously represent public slander of my personal work. I would like to more surgically edit both his/her comments as well as my own to remove these comments and references to them. I would beg your opinion on the matter.

It gets curiouser and curiouser. If you look here, you'll see that Cyde sought approval for his bot on three separate occasions. On the third occasion, when he wanted to use it for "subst'ing" templates, he encountered substantial opposition, and that proposal was supposed to operate only in the user space.

I generally assume good faith, but when he says on his talk page, "I don't keep track of this bureaucratic stuff," I have to wonder how true that could be. A look at the bot approval discussion archives shows that he comments vociferously on his own proposals, as well as other people's. I'd say he's keeping track of this bureaucratic stuff rather closely. Marc Shepherd 02:57, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It seems to be a fairly consistent theme that when people object to what he is doing, he replies that they don't "really know how this works," although an explanation of how it does work is never forthcoming. Marc Shepherd 15:59, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Watch your comments

I'm shocked that you don't understand how annoying, incivil, and frankly insulting it is to accuse someone of acting in bad faith when they are making a good faith effort to bring something to discussion. I highly recommend that you moderate your comments. --Cyde Weys 15:59, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I feel that it was certainly in bad faith to nominate this, given your recent actions regarding WP:NYCS and your conduct regarding the bot issue. I'd welcome the comment of others, and I suggest you avoid civility issues and personal attacks. alphaChimp laudare 16:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
It's also entirely unacceptable to characterize the TFD process as simply a courtesy. Were you planning on deleting the template yourself? alphaChimp laudare 16:24, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ooooh, you want to play wikilawyer, let's play wikilawyer. Number one, it is an utter violation of WP:AGF to explicitly accuse someone of acting in bad faith. There are some things all experienced Wikipedians just know, including Never cite WP:IAR to justify your actions and Never accuse someone of acting in bad faith. Criticize their actions if their actions are wrong, but you can can't ever divine the reasoning behind someone's actions.

Here's what it looks like from my point of view: I did something that turned out to be more controversial than I had thought, so I next did the most logical thing: I generate a discussion at WP:TFD. That makes sense, right? Weren't you annoyed that I originally did the stuff without discussion? So why in the hell are you going to bad mouth me when I do seek out discussion? It's almost as if you can't defend the templates on their own merits, so you have to resort to personal attacks against the person trying to get rid of them.

As for accusing me of incivility, get over yourself. My angry reaction is more than justified by your attempts to dismiss as acting in bad faith. Casting aspersions on someone's motives are far more serious than saying a few "rude" words. I don't particularly mind if you call me a douche but I do take offense if you're trying to say I'm consciously doing actions that I know aren't in the good of the encyclopedia. --Cyde Weys 16:59, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I always try to assume good faith, but these actions have gone beyond a reasonable point. Do you assume good faith in others? I'm not going to let this deteriorate into personal attacks or any incivility on my part, so I'll just leave it at that. alphaChimp laudare 17:09, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
How would you feel if you were doing something that you thought were in the best interests of the encyclopedia, but instead of someone engaging you in any substantive discussion, they just wrote you off as "acting in bad faith"? --Cyde Weys 17:14, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
If it was pointed out to me that I was running a bot for unapproved tasks, I'd apologize and take it to WP:BRFA, rather than just writing the issue off as wikilawyering/buerocracy and pursuing alternate means of removing the template (but just as a "courtesy"). Coincidentally, I did attempt to engage you in discussion regarding both issues, yet you have written off both of my lines of thought. alphaChimp laudare 17:19, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
You seem to think I'm operating under some sort of grudge against these templates and that I will do whatever is necessary to murder them. I'm not. It is of my opinion, for reasons I have already enumerated, that the encyclopedia would be better off without the existence of templates that do simple text substitution. Getting rid of them outright didn't work because it ended up being more controversial than I had anticipated. Now, mind you, I still think the encyclopedia would be better off without them, so my next step was to go to WP:TFD, where I whould have started had I realized how big of a mess this was going to turn into. Do you understand now where I'm coming from? --Cyde Weys 17:42, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
And I'm sorry if my original response to your accusations of bad faith on my part was a bit rude, but you must understand how much that hurt me. I'm a huge supporter of Wikipedia. I spent the August 3-7 in Boston at Wikimania discussing ways to make Wikipedia better with a bunch of other people. I put in many hours a week doing thankless maintenace tasks like CFD and RFD. I put my ass on the line (and have pages on Wikipedia Review and Encyclopedia Dramatica to prove it) to deal with disruptive trolls and vandals. Nobody can possibly claim that I don't care about this project and that I'm not consciously acting in what I believe are in the best interests of the project. So, please, put yourself in my shoes, and ask yourself how you would feel if someone accused you of acting in bad faith. --Cyde Weys 17:46, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Cyde, I understand your points and I appreciate you bringing them to me like that. Although I personally disagree, I understand how something would happen in that sequence. It's obvious to me that you contribute a lot to the boring and thankless maintenance tasks. I respect the length of time you've spent here, and that you attended Wikimania (I was unable to attend for financial reasons, but listened online). The thing that really, really troubled me about this situation, and that of the bot, was that I felt you were not listening to what others were saying. It seemed like to had a single objective (no NYCS templates) and you were driving towards it without listening to others. I'll be honest - I feel very strongly about bots running without task approval. We get a lot of requests over at WP:BRFA that are patently absurd and unreasonable. Sometimes the bot already has flag. The damage of those bots running free would be unimaginable. Legitimate bot users requesting approval serves to bring attention to and legitimize the process, which is a policy. The approvals process is designed to predict and prevent disagreements like the one over subst'ing the templates, and protect us from the arduous reversion of bot actions (as I said, Marc spent 5 hours).
I see now that you were acting in good faith, I just wonder whether that is totally clear to the outside observer. I try really hard to assume good faith, but unilateral actions really frustrate me. I realize that this is an encyclopedia more than it is a community, but I feel that before making any large scale edit that's beyond an simple fix, we ought to consult with others. It was that quick push through all of our articles that really alarmed me. To sum up, I am very frustrated with the approach you took, would like you to request bot task approval, and realize looking back that your edits were not in bad faith (although they appeared so at the time). alphaChimp laudare 20:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I noticed you removed the speedy tag I put on above article. Well, the bot was running some sort of home-made interwiki-script, operating on all languages, on most under the ip of the toolserver. The bot was sometimes just moving the interwiki-links without reason, [10], adding incorrect interwikis [11], and removing correct interwikis [12]. All of this happened continiously (so it are not a few single errors), and there was also no response on his russian talk page (ru:Обсуждение участника:Edward Chernenko). --Tuvic 22:21, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bot missing redirects

Hi Alphachimp, do you know your bot is missing redirects? [20] Rfrisbietalk 23:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Are you going to clean it up or are you going to leave it for someone else? Rfrisbietalk 00:48, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Take a look at the four changes you made. [21] A complete update would have been eight changes, e.g.,
|{{tl|user sith}}||{{user sith}} → |{{[[User:Rfrisbie/Userbox/Sith]]}}||{{User:Rfrisbie/Userbox/Sith}}
All you have to do is add another find/replace rule, e.g.,

Find Replace
{{tl|OldBoxName}} {{[[User:NewBoxName]]}}

Rfrisbietalk 01:16, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I hope you add that extra rule for any future WP:UBX directory-style page updates. Rfrisbietalk 01:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

3RR Block of User:Kachik

Hi, you have blocked User:Kachik for the 3RR violation on Turkish Navy. In fact Kachik was reverting User:E104421 who is an obvious another account of User:144.122.30.134 blocked by User:Tangotango for the 3RR violation on the same article (and before this blocked and unblocked by me for a chain of strange edits that may be vandalism and maybe just honest errors). User:Kachik might think he was doing a right thing by reverting an obvious sock of blocked user. Thus, maybe it is possible to shorten Kachik's block? abakharev 02:13, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Maybe 3h? or 8h? abakharev 02:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi there, I realized User:E104421 was an obvious sock of User:144.122.30.134 so I blocked the IP address as it would obviously have affected the registered user as well. I didn't block User:Kachik because at that time he or she had appeared to stop. Now that has changed, thanks for stepping in to block the other party as well. I've received an email from E104421 (or 144.122.30.134), telling me that they have sources for their additions and that I should unblock them. Although I'm not going to do so at the moment, it might be best if we protected the article in question and ask both parties to discuss on the talk page, as this may well continue. What do you think? Sorry for the delay, seems like I'm the most active approver, and have been busy. You're good to go:

Teke's RfA thanks

Thank you for your support of my RfA, which has passed with a final tally of 76/1/1. With this overwhelming show of support and approval I am honored to serve Wikipedia in the task charged to me and as outlined in my nomination. Happy editing to you! Teke (talk) 17:07, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

PROD stuff

Hi there, for no good reason I came across your discussion of PROD-removal at User talk:Crum375. There's a substantial discussion of this precise topic at Wikipedia talk:Proposed deletion#Deprod by author without comment, and AfD, which you might find interesting. Cheers, JackyR | Talk 21:55, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

This wasn't me...

Re: Question

I have a request in to User:Lupin; I don't know enough about the code I've copied to be sure of where the apparent bug is. I'm going to have to avoid popup reverts and use rollback, apparently... RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cool, thanks :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 18:38, 28 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, so popups work great in FF (home) and not at all at work (IE). Any ideas? RadioKirk (u|t|c) 01:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Tried that, but thanks :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 02:00, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Category:Architects

Many thanks for all of your bot help putting the architecture tag onto all of those pages. Kind regards. --Mcginnly | Natter 09:30, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, many thanks. I wonder if you might be able to do Category:Years in architecture (which is growing rapidly) and its subcats, too? Warofdreams talk 14:43, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

McSpaden mislabelled

Hi, Just wanted to let you know I've removed the architecture project template from the Harold "Jug" McSpaden talk page (as labelled by your bot). The category does say "golf course architects", but McSpaden was a golfer who designed one golf course. So I don't think he's the type of guy you're looking for. J. New Identity for September 9 service changes

The vandal is back, but he has a real Wikipedia handle now: User:DCarltonsm@msn.com. I'm approaching my 3RR limit on some of these articles, so I'm requesting that User:DCarltonsm@msn.com be blocked. Marc Shepherd 21:44, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Shortening 3RR block

Hey there Alphachimp, Gabi S. (talk · contribs · count) requested to be unblocked for her 3RR violation. While she did indeed violate 3RR, and blocking her was appropriate, she did give some defense that she did discuss the issue, and thought it was okay. Though it wasn't, she makes a good point, so I'm shortening her block a bit, and wanted to let you know, since you blocked her initially. Hope that flows okay with you, if not, do let me know. Thanks, -- Natalya 05:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

AWB stubsorting? Bot stubsorting?

How can we achieve this, dear chimp?

I want every article in Category:Law firms and many subcats to use my newly created {{law-firm-stub}}. How to do this intelligently? I need a tech solution. - CrazyRussian talk/email 02:52, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nonono, I want to remove all existing stub tags, such as law-stub, corp-stub, CostaRica-stub, and other crazyness, and install law-firm-stub. 99% are law firms. And semi-automated, of course, not like "Bot" Bot is you knwo what I mean. - CrazyRussian talk/email 02:59, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
HOLY SHIT... What is that? :) - CrazyRussian talk/email 03:11, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
