My main interest is in New Zealand politics, demographics, elections and by-elections, which means that much of my editing follows the rhythms of New Zealand's census and election cycles. As I lived in the UK for most of my adult life I also contribute to UK election articles - the first article I created was Lambeth Council election, 2006.

In working on NZ electoral articles I needed to create a series of templates to standardise and simplify the work. Since then I've become a strong believer in the use templates across most of my editing interests, and I note some of these templates are being used in other wikiprojects.

Also continuing work on by-elections means digging up more New Zealand colonial and early history than I ever thought I'd need. Many thanks to Paperspast, DNZB and my local library.
