Talk:VoteVets.org

Latest comment: 10 days ago by 24.5.74.182 in topic Mar A Lago

I recently got a mailing from VoteVets (Sep 2019). I wanted to know more about VoteVets.org so came to Wiki. There seemed to be no additions to their Wiki page since 2011 or 2012. The mailing I got was asking for donations, and clearly they support progressive candidates and hope to defeat Trump and also flip the Senate. I'm interested in how effective they are and was looking for an objective description of this org., but as I said, there was no RECENT information on Wikipedia. Supporting Democratic candidates and causes

edit

This seems pretty well documented that VoteVets generally supports Democratic candidates and their policy positions. Here a few documentations for this:

The conservative National Review notes that the advisory board members include:

"former Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark, former Democratic congressional candidates Paul Hackett, Tammy Duckworth and Andrew Horne, and former Democratic Senator Bob Kerrey."VoteDems, Er, I Mean, VoteVets Goes After John McCain

That same report also notes:

"Co-founder and chairman Jon Soltz headed "Veterans for Kerry 2004", hosted events for Kerry, and during the 2004 campaign criticized Bush for his attacks on McCain in 2000. (I guess McCain is only useful to Soltz when he can be used to criticize another Republican.)"VoteDems, Er, I Mean, VoteVets Goes After John McCain

"In the 2006 election cycle, VoteVets contributed $29,700 to Democratic candidates and organizations; the group contributed $2,100 to Sam Schultz, a primary challenger to GOP Rep. Mike Sodrel of Indiana."VoteDems, Er, I Mean, VoteVets Goes After John McCain

Politico reported that VoteVets issue TV ads on climate change are:

"More evidence of the new Democratic message coordination: The group VoteVets targets two red-state Democrats, pressing them to support Henry Waxman and Ed Markey's American Clean Energy and Security Act, a draft version of cap and trade."VoteVets on climate

MSNBC reported that VoteVets is "Democratic-allied":

"Since the beginning of this year, Democratic-allied 501(c)(4) organizations such as VoteVets.org and Americans United for Change, headed by former Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) spokesman Brad Woodhouse, have been keeping pressure on Republicans up for re-election next year."Democratic-linked groups mount ad offensive

MSNBC also noted that VoteVets' ads didn't attack Democrats:

"Democrats exempted from targeting "But seven House Democrats did, like Republicans Walsh and Castle, vote to support President Bush on the May 2 Iraq spending veto override effort.

"The Democrats included vulnerable members John Barrow and Jim Marshall of Georgia. The group chose not to target these Democrats."Democratic-linked groups mount ad offensive

I encourage feedback as to why this edit should not stay in the article. --789so7isstuffed (talk) 16:26, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

VoteVets.org PAC in the 2008 elections

edit

My edits regarding VoteVet's support of Barack Obama and active opposition to John McCain were well documented. Regardless of whether VoteVets endorsed Obama, they did publicly support Obama's plan for Iraq and actively opposed McCain's candidacy.

Factually, it makes sense to include both the official position of VoteVets (no endorsement), and the de facto position of VoteVets (support Obama and oppose McCain). I look forward to a debate on why the de facto position is not relevant to the article.--789so7isstuffed (talk) 15:37, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Editing -Reference/Citation additions

edit

you Just to try to keep things in a similar format for this article, I thought I would add the citation code that I used to create this article here (just copy, paste, and add available info when editing):

<ref name="news source name#">{{citenews | first= | last= | coauthors= | title= |date= | publisher= | url= | work= | pages= | accessdate = }}</ref>

in the "news source name#" part, I've just been adding a number (1,2,3. . .)starting with 1 for the "#", in case there is more than one article from the same news source. Of course "ref name" doesn't have to be included, but if it is, when the user's cursor moves over the superscript note it will display the source. R. Baley 22:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spending funds

edit

I am a vet and will no longer contribute to a fund that supports Biden. Allvets I know agree! If you support Biden you are no longer a patriot in my eyes. 74.81.169.66 (talk) 06:25, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

What does a small work team for Trump have to do with Veterans causes? Seems like someone is promoting their unrelated politics on this page? 24.5.74.182 (talk) 22:09, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
