Founded date?

It appears LaMia Venezuela and LaMia Bolivia are quite separate from each other. LaMia Bolivia is owned by different people and is renting the aircraft from LaMia Venezuela/Albacete. Is this understanding correct? If so, should the date of foundation be changed to 2015, when LaMia Bolivia was established? — Sunnya343✈ (háblame • my work) 00:19, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

@Sunnya343: I would put "2009 (as LaMia Venezuela), 2015 (as LaMia Bolivia)". The airline did not fly in Bolivia until this year but its air certificate was issued in July 2015, but it would not exist in this form or with this name without the failed Venezuelan airline which is legally separate. Also, El Deber (the hometown newspaper of Santa Cruz de la Sierra) is killing it with its coverage of this event. Raymie (t • c) 00:22, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

@Raymie: I feel the foundation year of the Venezuelan airline should not be mentioned in the infobox, as that is the foundation year for a different company. Kind of like the situation with People Express Airlines (1980s) vs People Express Airlines (2010s). What do you think? But of course, information about the Venezuelan origin belongs in the article. Also, perhaps the article title should be changed to LaMia (Bolivia)? Simply LaMia could be interpreted as either the failed Venezuelan airline or the currently operating Bolivian one. — Sunnya343✈ (háblame • my work) 00:34, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

@Sunnya343: The Venezuelan airline never operated — it's probably non-notable on its own. 2015 should probably be in the infobox for the Bolivian entity which is incorporated as LAMIA Corporation SRL. Raymie (t • c) 00:39, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

It's a confusing history that took the media a while to wrap its head around. I do not have much experience writing aviation articles, but you do, and I suspect you'd agree with me that airline moves across countries are not common. Raymie (t • c) 00:44, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
