References and expansion of article

edit

Expanded the article from its stub status and added according references. However, I could not find references for the following that had been in the previous edit:

King Gojong ordered the repeal of the Gabo Reforms. Russia quickly took the opportunity to interfere actively in domestic Korean politics, leading to the contraction of the pro-Japanese faction's influence. These years also marked the beginning of the economic exploitation of Korean natural resources by mining and timber corporations from Russia, the United States, France, the United Kingdom and Japan until 1897.

# Only the King (and not the Yangban elite) is to control the government.

If anyone can provide references that can back up these statements, putting them back in the article with the according citations would be greatly appreciated. Nuyos (talk) 18:32, 23 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

degree of Japanese influence

edit

The article says " Historians debate the degree of Japanese influence in this program". This needs reliable sources, because my sources say explicitely that the Gabo reforms were pushed through by the Japanese:

Sangtu haircut

edit

The article mentions a traditional Korean haircut which the reforms attempted to get rid of, but the Sangtu link leads to a city in Iran. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.162.158.110 (talk) 04:49, 20 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
