2015 article on Russian four-handed chess
editHere is a link to a 2015 article from the Board Game Studies Journal that goes into detail about how the game is played. I can't link to it, but you can google it. It's written by Dr. Georgi N. Markov.
Apparently, there are very few first-hand writte accounts of the game, and the second-hand written accounts omit or invent details. This study attemps to clear that up.
