Article overhaul

I've started to generally overhaul this article, which needs a good deal of work to add citations, repair/remove dead links and improve/reorganise content. I'm inclined to reorganise the structure in the short term to more accurately reflect distribution, ecology and cultural/recreational importance; I'll repair outdated or inaccurate material along the way. Multiple issues box removal

I've substantially overhauled this article and have paid special attention to the two issues noted in the multiple issues box (additional citations and worldwide view). Redirect proposal

I think that Barbus barbus should redirect to Common barbel, rather than the other way around as it does at the moment. See Common bream for an example of the way it's done elsewhere.
