Pre-emptive note
editAlthough the floods were caused by the precursor to Subtropical Depression Issa, no sources explicitly link them so we cannot connect the two for the time being. The South African Weather Service even went out of its way to say it was not a tropical cyclone event. ~ Cyclonebiskit (chat) 04:43, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- [1] Accuweather links them. Not exactly the most reliable of sources. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 22:04, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
Number of deaths
editSeems like there's some inconsistencies in the article, due to partial updates. BBC says 250+, but doesn't give a round figure. We should only be using exact figures if they're also sourced in the article. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:13, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- EWN says 253, so will add that. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
I don’t think the page should be called 2022 KwaZalu-Natal floods. I think it should be called Subtropical Storm Issa. We could probably make a page for Issa and keep this one though like with Tropical Cyclone Ana. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hurricane Su (talk • contribs) 00:39, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- See #Pre-emptive note. If Issa is notable, it can be created separately, but this flood is clearly notable enough for its own article. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:39, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- This seems to be a Wanda situation, which was a notable nor'easter that later became a named storm. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
- In this case though, Issa became named while impacts were still ongoing, so one could still attribute the flooding to that of Issa. With Wanda, the nor'easter and naming of the system were multiple days apart. It makes more sense for a separate article to exist on Issa, or something of the sort. - Issa is not notable enough for a standalone article, it was a weak subtropical depression that existed for just a couple of days. Having a section of this article dedicated to Issa should suffice. Buttons0603 (talk) 22:00, 19 April 2022 (UTC)

Rainfall map
editThe article's lead-off figure is an area map of "Rainfall totals recorded", but much of the heavy rainfall is placed in the ocean. How was this rainfall recorded? (I imagine not by leaving containers out and noting the depth of the water in them afterwards.) If the rainfall was measured (or calculated) in an unusual way (such as calculated from radar reflections), this should be explained. --Piledhigheranddeeper (talk) 19:12, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
