In her essay "In Free Fall: A Thought Experiment on Verticality," artist and theorist Hito Steyerl traces the historical shift in visual perspective from the linear to the vertical throughout the last century.  Vertical perspective, she argues, is a view from above that exacerbates the distance between subject and object and, thereby, turns perspective into a "one-way gaze of superiors onto inferiors, a looking down from high to low." Steyerl analyzes paintings and new technologies that, she argues, are central to the acceleration of the predominance of vertical perspective.  Using Steyerl's proposition as a point of departure, I argue that a reorientation from vertical perspective to immersive perception can help shift the political, ethical, and social values of our time.  I am interested particularly in immersive forms of perception as achieved through contemporary, participatory artworks that empower horizontal, democratic systems as well as the production of subjectivity.  Blurring the boundaries between art and life, these artworks facilitate an environment in which traditional roles of immobile and observational spectatorship are exchanged for activated, rhizomatic forms of thinking.  This immersive form of perception offers a position of resistance to the damaging perspective of verticality.  Through multisensory perception and multi-perspectival viewpoints, immersive perception effectively eliminates the dichotomies of perspective: up/down, inside/out, subject/object.  In this thesis, I argue that participatory artworks should be reconsidered as models of resistance to the damaging, predominant perspective of verticality and contend that they have the power to create possibilities for plurality, collective power, and community.

Viscosity of some polysaccharide solutions supports that these molecules can be applied in food sectors. Four exopolysaccharides (R1, R2, R3, R4) produced by different Rhizobium strains were selected. Sugar composition and differences in the uronic acid contents suggests that chemical structure of these molecules can vary when different culture conditions and strains are analyzed. The Power Law was the rheological model used to represent the experimental data of shear stress versus shear rate. All exopolysaccharides showed non-Newtonian behavior, with pseudoplastic characteristics. R1, R2 and R4 showed a slight increase in viscosity in the presence of 0,2 M NaCl.

This "text" discusses how capitalism, colonialism, and trauma are linked to various present-day crises, including issues related to civic engagement, environmental collapse, addiction, and collective trauma. The work argues for the inevitability of universalism by going through a history of how neoliberalism colonized the world and our minds. After surveying these various crossroads of contemporary precariousness, the crises of strategic intimacies, and the paralysis of endless reductionist calculi, in this work we will come to acknowledge how between the nightmares of history and a technologically overdetermined and ecologically devastated future, an examination of civic life must start from within the throngs of devotees so mesmerized by the circulations of global finance. Out of a mélange of conflicting paradigms, I look to two prevailing belief systems that underpin the most populous language-cultures of the internet; which both locate each other from the utmost periphery of one another; both have underlying religious ideologies that may aid in the acculturation of inclusive institutions which work to affirm differences among their respective congregations. Encountering a convergence from the utmost periphery from the other, gives each perspective the potential to see how they are in a “constitutive relationship with (their) own outside,” to question their own universality, as well as realizing the inadequacies that come from within" (Balibar, 36). After analyzing the political implications of the philosophies of Hegel and Spinoza, in relation to Christian and Confucian theologies, I end by admonishing "us" to take responsibility as inscribers of ritual to heal ghosts of collective trauma.
