Backcasting manual – 2025 edition

This publication provides guidance to producers of official statistics that need to produce consistent historical time series for an updated classification. It gives an overview of methods that can be used to reformulate statistics presented according to the old version of the classification in terms of the new (updated) version. All examples of the publication are based on the classification of economic activities in the European Union (NACE).
