Fresh Perspectives in Medical Research

It is with both great pleasure and a considerable sense of excitement that we present this inaugural issue of the Journal of the Oman Medical Association (ISSN: 2813-8759) [1].
This new journal represents much more than a mere addition to the contemporary literature of medical and surgical research; it offers new approaches to organizing scientific communication to raise the overall standards of medical knowledge and public healthcare, especially in the Middle East region.
The Journal of the Oman Medical Association was created through the partnership of two forward-thinking organizations—the Oman Medical Association (OMA) and MDPI, one of the largest academic publishers in the world. Funded exclusively by the OMA itself, this journal will be published, preserved, archived, and distributed without charging any fee from either its contributors or its readers. This innovative publication model, referred to as diamond open access, opens up exciting new perspectives in medical research, offering an approach that is intrinsically author-centered.
By placing our contributors and researchers at the center of our editorial concept, we aim to serve the needs of researchers at both the regional and international levels. We are offering everyone a trusted platform, a robust peer review system, and an efficient editorial process that will facilitate the widespread dissemination of new insights and approaches in the fields of healthcare, clinical medicine, and other fields related to medical surgery.
The Journal of the Oman Medical Association will publish original research in these areas, as well as discussions of topics such as new clinical practices, innovations in medical education, risk management in healthcare, and patient safety. It will additionally feature research reviews, preliminary studies, and case reports.
The Oman Medical Association was established in 2001 to help raise awareness about health issues and to increase the level of professionalism in the Omani medical community by working closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) of Oman. The OMA aims to enhance the quality and standards of medical practice in Oman by advocating a healthy working environment for its members and supporting their continuous professional development.
Our vision is to unite all doctors in Oman under one umbrella and make their voices heard. In founding the Journal of the Oman Medical Association, we hope to do more than this; however, it is our hope that the voices published in our new journal will speak to the wider world and make important contributions to increasing medical knowledge and globally improving medical care. This means that our focus will extend far beyond Oman itself, encouraging the exchange of new research findings and innovative thinking between medical researchers at both the regional and international levels.
We have established an experienced and highly committed Editorial team with this objective, and we welcome the contributions of everyone who has the potential to help our new journal grow—whether as authors, reviewers, or Editorial Board members.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with your research work and ideas, and we very much hope that you will enjoy this inaugural issue of the Journal of the Oman Medical Association!
