Abstract
A teleconsultation service for cardiologists and cardiosurgeons is described that is based on three-dimensional ultrasound images integrated with an animated virtual heart model (augmented reality). The design uses three input devices: a simulated transducer head to select relevant image slices, a pointing device to mark individual regions, and speech recognition for overall control. Such a scenic communication interface can be applied to other medical and nonmedical areas as well.
