Zusammenfassung

Local investors – farmers, citizens, local entrepreneurs – have been the main drivers for the development of wind power in Sweden. The reason for this was that the power companies have had a strong devotion to nuclear power. According to the power companies, wind power could never become part of mainstream energy technology. However, during the last ten years they have realized that wind power actually has become just that, and also the power source that is the most cost-efficient, so they have finally started to make large investments in wind power plants.
