Porting P4 to Digital Signal Processing Platforms

Recent Advances in Parallel Virtual Machine and Message Passing Interface (EuroPVM/MPI 2003)

Abstract

This paper presents preliminary work on bringing the Message Passing Interface standard to the DSP distributed real time applications world. MPICH is a thin implementation of MPI built upon the P4 parallel programming library. Originally built upon UNIX, our work deals with the issues of porting P4 to commercial multi-computers based on the Texas Instruments TMS320C6000 digital signal processor. We show that this implementation is possible and give performance figures.
