This study aimed to investigate the association of sporting competencies and digital screen usage... more This study aimed to investigate the association of sporting competencies and digital screen usage among students in Sport Sciences faculties. A cross-sectional survey was conducted at three universities in Turkey. A total of 219 students was surveyed in the spring term of 2021 during the COVID pandemic isolation period. In the research, information about both the use of mobile phones and computers as well as social media and digital game applications, which pose a risk of addiction to these devices, was obtained from the participants. They were asked to complete a self-report questionnaire on their demographic characteristics, mobile phone and Personal Computer (PC) usage, and the effect of digital screen usage on their sportive competencies. The results showed that the frequent use of digital screen applications had a negative effect on the students' sporting competencies. There was a significant difference that affected the scores according to gender, PC-ownership, department, daily mobile phone, and social media usage, change in digital screen usage, daily physical activity, and change in daily physical activity.

Measurement and evaluation are critical elements in curriculum programs and for physical educatio... more Measurement and evaluation are critical elements in curriculum programs and for physical education (PE) teachers. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish the validity and reliability of the Measurement and Evaluation of Common Competency Perception (MECCP) Scale for in-service PE teachers (n=878). For construct validity, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) (n=440) were conducted with two different samples. According to the EFA results (n=438), the three-factor MECCP Scale contained 23 items. After CFA (n=440), the three-factor structure was 23 items using Schumacker and Lomax LISREL analyses. Findings indicated good fit indices with χ2/sd=4.83, RMSEA=0.09, CFI=0.96, IFI=0.96, and NFI=0.95. In addition, Cronbach alpha scores were calculated as 0.50-0.77. In conclusion, the MECCP Scale was found to be valid and reliable for Turkish in-service PE teachers and is therefore highly recommended to evaluate in-service PE teacher's perceptions of the measurement and evaluation of common competency and also to establish new experimental designs to support the development of general efficiency levels of measurement and evaluation by PE teachers.

Bu çalışmanın amacı Yetişkinlerde Yakın Çevre Yürünebilirlik Anketinin (YÇYA) (Cerin vd., 2006) k... more Bu çalışmanın amacı Yetişkinlerde Yakın Çevre Yürünebilirlik Anketinin (YÇYA) (Cerin vd., 2006) kısa formunun geçerlik ve güvenirliğini incelemektir. Çalışmaya katılan yetişkinlerin ortalamaları kadınlarda (yaş: 35,23±9,51) iken erkeklerin (yaş: 37,95±10,33) olmuştur. Elde edilen veriler Yakın Çevre Yürünebilirlik Anketi ile toplanmıştır. Keşfedici Faktör Analizi (KFA) (n=235) ile incelenen verilere Doğrulayıcı Faktör Analizi (DFA) (n=358) uygulanarak ölçeğin doğruluğu test edilmiştir. KFA ile elde edilen verilere göre 6 yapılı YÇYA 5 alt boyutlu bir yapıya dönüşmüştür. Bu alt boyutlar; ulaşım (5 madde), yürüyüş ve bisiklet (6 madde), estetik (4 madde), trafik güvenliği (3 madde) ile suç güvenliği (3 madde) şeklinde olmuştur. DFA, LISREL analizi bulgularına göre iyi uyum indekslerine [χ2/sd=2.13, CFI=0.98, RMR=0.86 IFI=0.98, GFI=0.94 ve RMSEA=0.06] ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, betimleyici iki alt boyutun iç tutarlılığını incelemek amacıyla Cronbach alfa değerlerine bakılmış ve 0.74 ile 0.91 olduğu belirlenmiştir. Uyum indeksleri ve güvenirlik değerlerine göre YÇYA kısa formunun Türk yetişkin örnekleminde geçerli ve güvenilir bir araç olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

ESOCQ is four items measure which is
developed by Marcus and Lewis (2003) to determine stage of exercise behavior of individual. To test the validity of ESOCQ, physical activity scores (MET) of participants in the different stages of exercise were compared by using one way analysis of variance. Results: ANOVA results for each sex revealed significant difference in physical activity scores among participants at different stages of exercise behavior (p <0.05). Besides, differences in the level of physical activity (low, moderate, high) were tested among the participants at five different exercise stages. Chi Square analysis
demonstrated significant differences in the physical activity level in terms of exercise stages (Male, χ²(8)=66.87; p<.01, Female, χ²(8)=55.10; p<.01). Analysis also indicated adequate test-retest reliability based on two weeks interval (ICC=0.80). Conclusion: It may be concluded that Turkish version of “ESOCQ” is reliable and valid measure to evaluate the exercise stage algorithm of university students.
