Frequently asked questions

  • What's the best way to get started?

Join our Welcome Center and introduce yourself! We promise you'll get a warm welcome.

  • How is content organized?

We’ve split the community into collections and groups.

Collections contain discussions, questions, and articles aligned to products or areas of interest.  You can select which collection you’re interested in by using the Products dropdown in the top nav. Or click here to see our product collections.

We also have groups, which are mini-communities where you can connect with folks with whom you share things in common. Check out our groups here!

  • How do I keep track of content?

You can customize your homepage to show you exactly the type of content you wish to see, and the community will remember your preferences for next time. If you'd like to get email or RSS updates, you can Watch a collection by clicking on "Watch" in the sidebar, or watch individual threads by clicking the eyeball icon on the post. You can also create search alerts: anytime you search for something, you can hit "Create alert" to be notified whenever new content is posted that matches that search. You can update and manage search alerts from Profile > Notifications > Search alerts.

For a more detailed walkthrough on different ways to follow content, visit this post.

  • Can you help me with my username or email address?

Please visit this article to read more about usernames, privacy controls, and more.

  • Why does it say "I'm new here" next to my name?

This lets us know you're new to the community and helps us welcome you! It will disappear permanently after you make three posts. Don't forget that in addition to posting product questions and discussions, you can post in industry collections or in our off-topic area!

  • How did I get this Level 0 badge?

It's a starter badge that you get when you join the community. Earning your next one is as easy as liking something. Read more about our levels and other badges here.

  • How can I find out what’s new on community?

Check out our regular release notes for updates on new and upcoming features. You can also get email notifications by watching for new Feedback and Announcements area articles from the admins.

  • What is a Community Leader?

The most knowledgeable and enthusiastic members of the Atlassian Community have the chance to become Community Leaders, an elite group of top contributors who host events, answer questions and write articles about Atlassian products and related topics. This in turn allows them to unlock perks like access to Leader-only spaces, discounts to Atlassian events, special swag, and, of course, fame and glory.

  • Neat! How do I become one?

Follow the yellow brick road! Plus, read more about the program and apply here.

  • Why was my question marked as "in moderation"?

Our community has an automated spam filter than sometimes catches "real" posts in addition to spam. All our admins and moderators check the quarantine regularly and will release your post as soon as we can.

  • How do I use emoji in my posts?

You can use keyboard shortcuts to add emoji to your posts. On Mac, use Command + Control + Space. On Windows 10: Win + period (.) or Win + semicolon (;) will work.

  • How do I search within a specific collection or group?

There is now a search box on the homepage of every group or collection. More details about this feature are here.

  • What if I'm an Atlassian Partner?

We have guidelines for Partners engaging in our community, both online and in-person. You can read all our guidelines and request Partner permissions here. Note that spamming is prohibited.

  • What if I have a billing question?

For any questions around billing or licensing, please visit our dedicated portal. Avoid posting any private account information on the community.

  • What about Atlassian Certifications? Do they exist? Can I display them on my community profile?

Yes! All the details are in this article.

  • Is networking allowed?

Yes! Please post your job listings or look for others to connect with in our Jobs & Careers group.

  • Is the Atlassian Community accessible?

The Atlassian Community is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1, Level AA. Please review our full Accessibility Statement here for more details.

  • How can I access the HTML editor?

The HTML editor is not available to all community users; however, if you have article posting permissions, you will have access to the HTML version of our editor. This applies to Community Leaders, Atlassian Authors, Partners, and Atlassian team members.

  • I pasted content into the text editor, and it looks weird or things are missing. Help!

When content is pasted into the text editor or composed directly in the HTML editor, you might notice that some of your formatting has been removed. Most invalid HTML is simply removed automatically or changed to a simplified form.

  • I’m trying to publish my post, and I’m getting an HTML error message. How can I resolve this?

In a few cases HTML is not valid, but will not be automatically scrubbed to allow for publication, and you will be prevented from publishing your post. Please double check for the following HTML tags, which may cause an error message:

    • div data-attributes
    • embed
    • hr noshade
    • hr size
    • i
    • iframe
    • img referrerpolicy

  • Are there other guidelines I should know?

Please review our Rules of engagement and our voice and tone guide before jumping in.

  • What if I have other questions?

Feel free to post them in our feedback forum and our Leaders and community managers will be happy to help you. Welcome!
