Rationale, discussion and results

It appears that this disruptive sockpuppeteer is back. Seem to be running another wave of accounts to continue pushing a "disputed" label within a specific area, i.e. Somaliland-related files.

A few examples of confirmed socks going on an editing spree and adding a disputed label to all Somaliland related maps: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] (..etc etc, this is specific behaviour shared by all confirmed socks previously reported and globally blocked).

  • User Hurbad going on a similar spree and reverting to the same map pushed by confirmed socks: [6], compare this to confirmed sock Meelpringthusss [7]. User Hurbad doing the same thing on the Somalia map [8], compared to confirmed sock Eve44reelaassss [9] as well as Meelpringthusss [10] (... etc etc).
  • User FLG09 doing the same thing (it appears the two accounts are used to tag-team users of Commons) [11], [12].

The behaviour is identical to confirmed socks and following the same established idiosyncratic patterns, on the same map files. Looks like a DUCK to me. --Kzl55 (talk) 23:06, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

From a CU perspective:
Confirmed FLG09 = HSA777
Likely Hurbad = FLG09
Possible that they are related to Bashiir Dhoorekow.

Bashiir Dhoorekow was stale as of the previous check as well, so I can't assist in making that connection. I do have data for the Meelpringthusss = Frutryrydays = TYHHGHmorg = etc., but it isn't particularly helpful above what you already know (I'll email you.) Hurbad, behavioural evidence of this account (as well as FLG09) being part of a disruptive sock/meat farm and abusing multiple accounts has been submitted in the above report. This was confirmed by technical checkuser evidence linking Hurbad and FLG09 as likely sockpuppets/meatpuppets as well as FLG09 being a confirmed sock of HSA777. --Kzl55 (talk) 11:23, 7 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Identical drive-by editing of all Somalia-related maps on Commons to add a very specific out of scope content. They all appear to be throw-away single-purpose accounts operated by the same individual.

Identical editing of Somalia maps across Commons:

  • Eve44reelaassss (account created 20 March) [13], [14].
  • Frutryrydays (account created 27 March) [15], [16].
  • TYHHGHmorg (account created 8 June) [17], [18], marking the same area.
  • Meelpringthusss (account created 9 June) extensive editing of all Somalia-related maps, e.g. [19], they've done it to many maps [20].
  • Platweikghuunn (account created 10 June) [21].
  • Dhumdreforshcnerr (account created 13 June) [22].
  • Waxinalagey (account created 20 June) [23].

There are probably more that a CU may pick up.

The last four accounts appear to be operated by the same individual but used for a different Somalia-related purpose, all accounts are pushing a specific neologism (Koofur Orsi) and changing the official name of "South West State" across Commons to "Koofur Orsi" (disruption spills over to English Wikipedia, more on that below):

  • Ohytynnbndrew (account created 9 March) [24], [25] (plenty more [26]).
  • Knowingngytwong (account created 13 March) [27], [28].
  • Hadhunsan_saahinutrweel (account created 30 March) [29].
  • Noseisnostriledd (account created 17 December) seems to be operated by the same individual, with focus on changing the name of the body of water adjacent to the Somali coast from Indian Ocean to "Somali sea" another neologism [30]. They share Bashiir_Dhoorekow's interest in maps of Arabian sea [31], [32],

Filing this under Bashiir Dhoorekow since that is the oldest of these sock accounts. This appears to be another wave of Middayexpress socking disruption.
