Liliopsida is the name used by the Cronquist system (1981) for the monocotyledons. The Liliopsida is subdivided into five subclasses.
- subclassis Alismatidae: ordines Alismatales, Hydrocharitales, Najadales, Triuridales
- subclassis Arecidae: ordines Arales, Arecales, Cyclanthales, Pandanales
- subclassis Commelinidae: ordines Commelinales, Cyperales, Eriocaulales, Hydatellales, Juncales, Restionales, Typhales
- subclassis Liliidae: ordines Liliales, Orchidales
- subclassis Zingiberidae: ordines Bromeliales, Zingiberales
The name is also used in the Strasburger classification by Ehrendorfer, but with a different internal taxonomy.
The APG II system (2003) does not use this name but assigns these plants to the clade monocots.
