You can browse and search Kyushu University's rare collections by collection names or genres. Some materials have digitized images (Refine by the checkbox "With Fulltext"). Some collections have not yet been fully catalogued. The collections are arranged according to the “List of Kyushu University Collections and Archives” in “Kyushu University Rare Books & Special Collections”, arranged roughly by field, and for historical materials, arranged by region.
Digitized images of Kyushu University Library holdings available in Collections (except for some exceptions) are openly available after October 2018. That is, you can reuse them freely at no charge, including any modifications and commercial uses, without any advance application to the Library. For details, see this page.*We also provide metadata. For details, see this page (In Japanese).
Digitized images of Kyushu University Library (JPEG files) are compatible with IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework). For details about IIIF, see this page (In Japanese).
The decision to release images is based on the "Guidelines for the Release of Digitized Images at Kyushu University Library" (In Japanese). Materials digitized in the Rare Materials Digital Archive are intended to be used for academic research purposes and are digitized as they were when they were created. Please be aware that some of the materials may contain politically incorrect words and phrases by the standards of today's readers, but please use these materials with understanding and caution, as they are historical materials of the time they were created.
