Educated in London and graduated with first-class honours in biological sciences from Birkbeck College, University of London. This part-time degree was pursued whilst holding down a full-time technical research post at University College London. Then read for a DPhil in physiological sciences at Oxford University, followed by postdoctoral training at Harvard University. Here I performed pioneering studies on molecular mechanisms linking obesity and insulin resistance with Gokhan Hotamisligil. Returning to the UK, set up an independent research group at University of Cambridge to investigate Immunometabolic Signalling in Tissue Remodelling and Metabolic Disease. In 2017, the laboratory relocated to the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.Expertise: Immunometabolism, Cellular Signalling, Adipose Tissue Biology, Tissue Remodelling, Metabolic Syndrome, Obesity, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer
