Nigeria, having realized the effectiveness of education as a powerful instrument for national progress and development, adjusted her secondary school educational system to encompass diversified curriculum that integrates academic with technical and vocational subjects with a view to empowering the individual for self-employment. However, the educational system does not seem to achieve its purpose as majority of school leavers are not equipped with necessary skills to empower themselves. Consequently they cannot raise their socio-economic standard and therefore cannot contribute to nation building; hence, the need for this study.
The broad aim of the study was to assess how the curriculum was implemented in Nigerian private secondary schools with a view to identifying the root cause of the problem. Some of the specific objectives include: determine the appropriateness of Nigeria secondary education curriculum; find out type of teaching method used in implementing the curriculum; determine number of skill-based subjects taught in school; identify practical [entrepreneurial] skills students have learnt in school with which they can create self-employment; identify products and services students have produced. Following the objectives, nine research questions were formulated. Adopting the descriptive survey research design. The research work was conducted in Alhaji Akilu Comprehensive Secondary School, Madobi, Kano State. One hundred and twenty students from junior and senior secondary classes were selected and forty teaching and non-teaching staff were also selected for the research.  In choosing the student-subjects, stratified random sampling technique was used. Staff-subjects were selected from variety of disciplines. The study utilized both quantitative and qualitative techniques with practical test, observation, focus group discussion, teacher and student questionnaires as instruments used in data collection. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential tools.

His passion to protect his love relationship with Blessing drives him to join a deadly confraternity group. Blessing was his dreamt wife and he promised to protect her against further assault after they were attacked by comrades of Katanga, a cult kingpin and an ex-Blessing’s lovebird. They were hospitalised and on the discharge from the hospital, Michael swore to vent vengeance on the assailants. His inability to successfully undergo the horrible initiation process landed him in the hospital the second time. Before his recovery, Katanga, whose life target was Michael’s death, was told of his whereabouts. He was assassinated by Katanga and his men.His death sparked a deadly clash between Katanga’s group and Michael’s confraternity band which led to death of Katanga and host of his comrades. The joy of triumph of Michael’s group was cut short as they were ambushed and defeated.Rich in suspense and taut in atmosphere, Gone With Love explores the cult activities in the campus and how nemesis caught up with everyone involved.

The law and medical professions have long been seen as prestigious career paths and great options for adolescents aspiring for higher education. Both professions command attention and are highly competitive in Nigerian universities. However, the counseling need of adolescents wishing to study law or medicine differs. While counselling of adolescents aspiring to become lawyers (attorneys) prioritizes analytical, oratory, communication and public speaking skills, the counseling need of adolescents passionate to study medicine lay more emphasis on scientific ability, empathy, medical pedagogy, stress and medical management.

Let us now examine Alkali's position on the questions of whether she is a liberal womanist or radical feminist and her posture on the interdependence of sexes. It's apparent that Alkali gives the woman a voice to make demands for her right and freedom in her novels. Therefore, as she dances to the tune of all feminist novelists in Africa, it is imperative to examine whether Alkali is liberal womanist of radical feminist.

The people of Ugbugbu community assembled at Udaburu village square for the annual alanya dance contest. The square was very wide, surrounded with mango and iroko trees. A shack was at one side of the square and images of gods were rooted to the ground under an Ogbu tree beside it. Different kinds of drums were put under the sun and children were playing around them. Elders from the four villages, their sons and daughters and in-laws congregated at different spots under trees communicating with one another. Majority of the people wore cap and headscarf of red and black colours. People from other communities and well-wishers gathered around their supporters under the trees where the people of their villages assembled. The people of Udaburu congregated under a conglomerate of Iroko trees making merry and cheering one another. The congregation of Udaburu people was more crowded than that of other villages. Their in-laws from different communities and Enugu State gathered around them. Ejike from Enugwu-Ezike in Enugu State who was a son-in-law of the Ede-maalu of Udaburu village chanted in Ibo language, praising the ancestors of his father-in-law. He poured libation on a spot and danced around it with the palm wine cup in his hand. His father-in-law went to meet him and they chanted in Ibo language. 'Oroburu brine e brine e bokinene, inene bogeji gehor. Le eywa bugoywa le eywa charachara,' they chanted. 'Odin-ma,' one of the young men who were approaching them said and turned round himself. People of Ijitigbo were eating, drinking and chanting praises of their gods and epics of their forefathers who were never defeated in any war. One of the young men beat Agogo rhythmically to the tone of the epics. 'Otoroche!' he shouted. Otoroche was one of the most powerful gods of Ijitigbo people. It was brought by their historical mother who hailed from Ubolo-Eke. She was the second wife of the founder of the community. 'Otubi lo ohire eno le eyi, Otubi lo ohire eno le eyi,' one of the Alanya dancers from Ijitigbo chanted. Otubi was a god given to Oriri, a one time winner of best Alanya dancer by his maternal grandmother who hailed from Ehu in Ankpa community. Since his heroic victory, many Alanya dancers adopted Otubi as god of Alanya dance. 'Ohehe wa ka yofu,' one of the Alanya dancers enchanted. Ohehe was a deity in Ijitigbo.

"He raised himself slightly, his right hand finding new position on her neck. He pushed forward and planted his lips on hers, her long gentle finger stroking his nape and cheeks. He pulled out and looked into her face, a pleasant shock shooting through his eyes. And as if to confirm the reality of this, he gently pulled her again to himself and she fell lifelessly against his chest. He smoothed her hair and as his eyes determinedly cut through her, he suddenly discovered the face of a woman full of passion."

In the dead of the night at about one o'clock, almost two kilometres away from the nearest residential building along Ahogbo-Ejaa road, near Awube River and opposite Edwin Apeh's yam farmland was a mass grassy plain with big trees. The night was still; only the chirping of crickets and screeching hooting of owls can be heard. The area was dark and seemingly devoid of human beings. From nowhere, a weak little burning flame brightened the immediate space it occupied. Moment later, the light began to move forward towards a big Ugba tree. The carrier dropped the light between two earthen pots at the foot of the tree and retraced his steps. Fourteen males and five females dressed in black and red attire plodded to the foot of the tree in a fetish-like manner with their fingers intertwined. Their heads inclined downwards as if in prayer mood. They sat with their legs tucked up under them and each hand resting on a knee. The first to take his position was Ojechema, fondly called Adangada by his friends. He was the leader of the Flaming Sword confraternity terrorizing Ahogbo, Ugbugbu, Nkalegwu, Ejaa and their environs. By his right were three murderous looking young men who plaited their hair with braided brown attachments. The first guy on his right whose coded name was Alakpa had a broken incisor and muscular body. He was more dreaded than even the capon. 'Great people of Garacha!,'Alakpa enchanted. 'Great brothers in camaraderie! They all chorused. Alakpa raised his hand up and was still for a moment, his eyes caught between horror and anger. 'One idiot called Ewaoche is threatening the respect accorded our members by wanting the capon for a rival. Everyone in entire Owukpa community knows how interested is our capon in Ene and to have a nobody who does not belong publicly displaying his ownership of her is not only a disrespect but also a ridicule. We must deal with him within the shortest possible period of time,' he blustered. All the cult members were visibly angry at Ewaoche, their demeanour portend a hunger for his blood. One of them wielded his dagger above his head and bit his lower lip as if imagining himself butchering him. 'We must eliminate him. The future of this brotherhood is in jeopardy if capon is allowed to be ridiculed by a nincompoop. We are gods in this community and whoever touches the noses of the gods must face the fight of the gods. Ewaoche must die!' Alakpa roared gnashing his teeth.

Oral literature is the vast field of knowledge through which cultural information and messages are transmitted verbally from one generation to another. It is the complex corpus of verbal arts created as a means of recalling the past. One major feature of oral literature, which relates to the nature of performance, is the involvement of the community in the creative process as well as in the criticism. Every performance is for and about the audience. Oral literature is steadily attracting scholarly attention in the post-colonial African context, which is more and more becoming saturated by the mass-media outlets. The researcher, therefore, intends to highlight the interface of orature, multimedia, ICT and globalization as well as the effect of mass media on oral literature, particularly in Africa through the lens of Post-Colonialism.

Embedded in Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s Notes from the Underground and Franz Kafka’s The Trial are the literary symbolisms of the events and happenings in the Russian society and German society. Being one of the early existentialist novels, Notes from the Underground presents itself as an excerpt from the rambling memoirs of a bitter, isolated, unnamed narrator (generally referred to by critics as the Underground Man)  and The Trial narrates the story of a man arrested and prosecuted by a remote inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor to the reader. Therefore, this research attempts a discourse of the symbolisms of “the underground” and “the court” in Dostoyevsky’s narrative and Kafka’s novel through the lens of New Historicism.

This tradition is a ‘double-edged sword’ capable of consolidating the love between soon-to-be-married spouse or terminating the entire marriage process and rites."
