Ass. Prof. (Yrd. Doç. Dr.) Akman is the founder and director of EMAJ Emerging Markets Journal of Business Management (peer-reviewed) published by Pittsburg University Library System and co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Press (2011). He is also the founder of both (JCIST) JCI Istanbul Crossroads International Short Film Festival & Contest (2006) and CINEJ Cinema Journal (peer reviewed) published by Pittsburg University Library System and co-sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Press (2011). He has books published from Yakamoz (2007), Derin (2007), Hayat (2004), Sistem (2002), Filiz (2002), Rota (1998), TÜGİAD (1998), Alfa (1996), Dünya (Globus-1994), Era Publication Houses (1994) in Turkey and BookSurge Publication House (2006) in USA. Akman, received numerous awards for his achievements nationally and internationally. He is currently a full-time faculty member (Business Administration Department) at Kadir Has University - Istanbul since 2006. Dr. Akman, also gives seminars at Istanbul Bar Association Education Center (SEM) on communication skills since 2008. He is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (HEA) in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.

of that country. Especially in Turkey, women, who constitute
the vast majority of the population, should work and produce to
contribute to the national economy. Women's participation in
business life started late compared to that of men’s. Women
were forced to work by being deprived of many rights, although
it was accepted in societies over time. It took time for working
women to receive compensation for their work as social rights,
and the laws on social rights were not implemented.
The transformation in the economies of the developed
countries since 1950 has enabled women working in agricultural
and industrial fields to work in the service sector. Women were
now employed in the service sector, such as hospitals and public
institutions. In the 1970s, the liberalization of trade and the
increase in multinational companies led to the mentality of
cheap labor. In particular, women were affected by this situation
and forced to work with low wages. In the same years, the fact
that women were considered important in economic activities
led to making arrangements for the rights to work. The
International Women's Conferences on equal rights were held in
1975. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) was adopted in 1979.
The International Labor Organization (ILO) made significant
progress in the elimination of discrimination against women.
According to the European Social Charter adopted, it was
agreed by the governments to benefit from social rights without
any discrimination of race, color, gender, religion, or political
view.
In Turkey, the social change and development of women
were aimed at the new order established with the declaration of
the Republic, which played a significant role in the formation of
women's identity. Along with the new period, many innovations
were turning points, especially in women's life. In time, the roles
undertaken by women in society changed and women were
included in business life, besides home and family life. Along
with the reforms between 1923 and 1933, during which the
Republic of Turkey was established, women ensured their civil
rights. Women's participation in education, business life, and
politics was supported.
Many innovations were made for women during the
Republic Period. At the Izmir Economic Congress (1923), it was
decided to prepare a law on eight weeks and three days of paid
leave per month for women workers before and after childbirth,
was a significant effort to protect women workers in the
conditions of that day. In the field of education, the Constitution
of 1924 was an important development for women's education.
Teaching, nursing, and midwifery schools were opened for
women to begin working as a professional. Along with the
Republic, within the concept of the social state, Public Health
Law No. 1593 including the regulations on working conditions
of women, children, and young workers in terms of working age
and duration, the nature of the job and physical characteristics
were prepared in 1930. The regulations, which are the basis of
many laws that determine the working conditions today, started
to be made with the introduction of the Republic...
