PWCS 26: understand the person-centred approach in adult social care settings. Assessment 8 unit 7 Samira Osman 1.1. Define Person-centered values. Person-centred values mean as we are care workers we must treat our patient's individually right and equal way. By respecting their needs, differences allowing them to make their own choices and value them as an individual. also as we are care workers we have to work in a person-centred way. 1.2. Explain why it is important to work in a way that embeds person-centred values. As we care worker's we have to embed the person-centred values of our help and support. As we are care workers, we have to make sure that we respect person-centred values and embed them in our everyday activities. We must make sure that we don't ignore person-centred values because if we ignore them it will affect our individuals (people who we care for) in a negative way. In working in a person-centred way, we have to make sure that we show how we value people such as how we care about them, supporting and show them how we are working together in a partnership way also how they are important for us to have them not just passive recipients of care. It is also great practice you pay the best attention to the way you care and support them which in turn cut down the risk of abuse and neglect. If we don't respect these values, we can affect confidentiality between us and the people who are we caring for also they will feel that losing their confidence. If they feel they are not listened to, they will lose the communication between them, the staff also the care workers and not sharing what they are interested in their carer. They will even lose their independence and the skills they already know if we don't support them and protect them. As we care workers, we have to ensure that we promote person-centred values in ways which allow people who we caring for to choose their own and give time such as if they doing things slowly like when they eating or when they doing something. 2.1. Describe how to find out the history, preferences, wishes and needs of an individual. To be honest working in person-centred way, we have to recognize that all human beings are individuals also their wishes and needs should be at that centre of help. As we care worker's we can ask our patients to talk about their lives, history and preferences to know about them more information from their lifestyle, their wellbeing's and by asking these
