What's Balsamiq?
We're on a mission to give teams the clarity and speed they need to build better products.
Balsamiq started in 2008 to help product managers share their ideas. Today, our wireframing tools help tens of thousands of product, business, and engineering minds think through ideas, get aligned, and move forward—without needing to be designers.
What's the team like?
We believe work should feel good—exciting, challenging, focused, and the right amount of fun. Here's what you should know about us:
- We work remotely, spread across Italy, France, Germany, Illinois, and California.
- We try to get together in person every year or so, at our office space in Bologna, Italy.
- We run on EOS, so we stay aligned without drowning in meetings.
- We trust each other to do great work without micromanaging.
- We think long-term about our company, our team, and the people who rely on us.
We're also small and proudly independent, so we're deliberate when we hire. Here's what we look for in our teammates:

We're not for everyone
We primarily hire people only in Italy, France, Germany, Illinois, and California.
We are optimized for working from home. You must self-motivate, self-manage, and can't rely on coworkers for your social life.
We're a small company and prefer to stay lean. Most of our roles are designed for individual contributors.
We prioritize a good pace over sheer speed. We take our time to do things right.
As we grow, our processes and policies evolve. It's not easy to stay this flexible.
It is an honor and privilege working for Balsamiq and serving our awesome customers. I can think of no other people or place I would rather spend my working hours with.
Working here has its challenges, but this is by far the best job, company, team, and work environment I've ever experienced.
Our hiring process
We don't hire often, but when we do, we take our time to find the right fit. Our hiring process may vary for full-time employees and part-time contractors, but here's what you can generally expect:
- We tend to prioritize candidates in our hiring regions. These include Italy, France, Germany, Illinois, and California.
- We respect your time. Our process is thorough but efficient.
- We keep you informed. Even if it takes time, we'll let you know either way.
When evaluating candidates, we look at:
- Your application & experience
- Written responses to follow-ups
- Video interviews with our team
- A short paid contract project (sometimes)
- Reference checks before a final decision
