Eleanor Patterson
I research broadcasting and television studies, specifically, informal and formal economies of exchange and distribution. As a cultural studies scholar, my work considers how broadcasting and the practices of cultural circulation are shaped by new media and technologies, socio-political context and ideologies. I have published eight peer reviewed journal articles in top tier media studies outlets, including Television and New Media, Feminist Media Studies, Journal of Cinema & Media Studies and Transformative Works & Cultures. My book Bootlegging the Airwaves is forthcoming this fall from the University of Illinois Press.
I have taught a range of classes including TV history, audience and fan cultures, gender and sexuality in media, television criticism, media industries, foundations in media theory, global media, media advertising and society, race ethnicity and media and more.
