Yirga Abebe
My name is Yirga Abebe. Currently, I am a PhD Student at Institute for Peace and Security Studies of Addis Ababa University. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations field from Dire Dawa University in July 2010 G.C and a Master of Arts Degree in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University-Institute for Peace and Security Studies in July 2014 G.C. I have more than 10 years work experience in teaching and research in Universities. Since September 2010-August 2018, I was a lecturer in Department of Political Science and International Relations at Jigjiga University. From September 2018-January 2021, I was a lecturer at School of Governance, Department of Peace and Development Studies at Wollo University. In due course of my professional experience, I have been teaching various courses in the field of political science, international relations, peace and security studies as well as conflict resolution and peacebuilding. In addition to teaching and learning activities, I have been engaged in research works related to customary conflict resolution, pastoral conflicts, women and election, conflict-induced displacement, parliament and peacebuilding, diaspora and peacebuilding, post-2018 conflict trends, geopolitics and inter-state border conflicts. In addition, I have been both the organizer as well as presenter of academic lecture series/seminars and various national conferences, and have provided trainings on governance, ethics, anti-corruption and public policy.
