Budowla znajduje się na wschód od centrum miasta, na północnym zboczu Niedźwiadków przy niebieskim szlaku turystycznym na wysokości ok. 510–530 m n.p.m. Według opracowań naukowych budowla nie jest mauzoleum w sensie dosłownym, ale cenotafem – grobowcem pozornym.
