- Der Goggausee liegt im Bereich der Gurktaler Alpen, nördlich von Feldkirchen in Kärnten, in einem sehr windstillen Becken. Aufgrund der geschützten Lage ist das Gewässer trotz seiner geringen Tiefe wenig durchmischt und bereits nach wenigen Metern sauerstoffarm. Die Wasserqualität gilt trotz teilweise geringer Sichtweiten als gut. Der kleine See von länglich, rechteckiger Form ist in der Region als kühlerer Badesee bekannt. Das Gewässer hat einen Abfluss über ein Moor in den Wimitzbach. Die Gegend um den See ist sehr dünn besiedelt, insbesondere das fast menschenleere . Der See liegt in der Gemeinde Steuerberg. Die nächsten Orte Steuerberg und Rennweg sind etwa 2 km entfernt. Der See liegt im 100 ha großen Landschaftsschutzgebiet Goggausee (LGBl. Nr. 80/1970). (de)

Due to the sheltered location, the water is little mixed despite its small depth and already after a few meters oxygen poor. The water quality is considered good despite partially low visibility. The small lake of elongated, rectangular shape is known in the region as a cooler bathing lake. The water has an outlet over a moor in the Wimitzbach . The area around the lake is sparsely populated, especially the almost deserted Wimitz Valley . The lake is located in the municipality of Steuerberg . The nearest towns Steuerberg and Rennweg are about 2 km away. The lake is located in the 100-hectare conservation area Goggausee (LGBl. No. 80/1970). (en)
