SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Savannah is known for many things like its rich history and boozy nightlife, but what if we told you that more people are looking for an alcohol-free night?

Whether you are looking to get sober, sober curious, or just don’t feel like drinking alcohol for the night there are options for you here in Savannah. One woman has turned her battles with booze into a booming business.

“Looking back I was trying to fit in. I was trying to suffocate feeling and I was sensitive and drinking helped me self-medicate but it really spiraled out of control. Alcohol turned to drugs, turned to harder drugs and it got really dark. I was at the bar and looked at myself in the mirror, I saw myself at 21 at a local dive bar and I flash forwarded to seeing myself as an old maid doing the same thing and I was like this isn’t my life.”

Cimcie has been sober for over 20 years and although she is proud to say that she has been through a lot, she still needed a fresh start and that is why she moved from California right here to Savannah.

“We had gone through a pandemic, I lost my job, my partner at the time asked for a divorce and I lost everything.”

When she first got here, she noticed there weren’t many options to choose from that were alcohol-free for a night on the town.

“When it came time to start over I really wanted to build something for myself. I grew up in the night clubs I loved to dance I had been a trained herbalist and I kind came out of my trauma fog and realized there was this huge nonalcoholic movement happening.”

That is why she is bringing an alcohol-free social club experience to the city.

“If you wanna go drink, just go get messed up, this isn’t that. this is to add to the scene and not take away. We are here to add choices to people and collaborate with this amazing vibrant bar culture in Savannah.”

The buzz on the growing mocktail trend has been getting around town and that is why several places right here in Savannah are now providing zero-proof options.

Places like Perry Lane Hotels Rooftop bar are just one of the many places to choose from.

”Mocktails were probably introduced about year and a half ago with the rise of people choosing to not drink or go sober for a couple of months, obviously we have children up here so we want something a little more elevated and fun like mocktail shots to include everyone so you not missing gon the fun up here.”

Because it’s about the experience with or without the booze and we can all cheers to that.
