Frequently asked questions

  • More information about our promotional deals

Congratulations on taking your first step towards email privacy!

At times, we may offer discounted promotional deals to new customers purchasing a new StartMail Personal Account or a Custom Domain Account. If you are signing up via one of our deals, you can find more information about them here:

    • Our promotional deals apply to new users only who are interested in purchasing a StartMail Personal Account or a Custom Domain Account.
    • Discounts only apply to the first payment (annual or monthly).
    • When purchasing a StartMail Account via a promotional deal, you are provided with a 7-day free trial period and all the Account features. Please be aware that we don’t offer a 7-day trial period for our Custom Domain Accounts.
    • A promotional deal cannot be combined with other deals, or the StartMail Referral Program.
    • Accounts purchased through a discount cannot be refunded.
  • Why isn’t StartMail free?

There are plenty of so-called "free" email services, but they aren’t really free. In reality, most of those "free" email services so many people use are really market research tools designed to give you a place where you will unwittingly reveal a mountain of information about yourself that they can capture and use for their own purposes. These companies make their money from your personal information!

  • Why are payment details needed for a trial account?

To prevent email abuse, we ask for payment details upon sign up. You can add a credit card or PayPal account. Learn more

  • Can I pay my subscription with a debit card?

Most modern debit cards can nowadays be used for online transactions. Check with your card issuer if your card can be used for online transactions if you’re not sure.
