the other one is truly a "pile driver" version that cooks big time!!

was it the crowd???i dont know but the boys are on tonight...niiiiice sugaree..Jack Straw is so tight and jerry plays the shit out of it..been looking for the acid/clive part and i found it.:^) set ii is a "band beyond description" prophet->he's gone->drums->truckin->other one->stella is just one of the many,many reasons i love the Grateful Dead...Get this one boys and girls. Cant think of any better way to start off 1979...

Just listened to the show. Jack Straw has some extremely intense guitar playing, great jamming right up to the end and just when you think you've heard the best Jack Straw ever, they (mostly Bobby) fucks up at the end and starts the verse to earlier to "Jack Straw from Witchata cut his buddy down".
Man, what a heartbreaker. Otherwise all the other comments are right on.

As someone who is from Wichita, I LOVE the killer versions (don't we all!) and this one is a KILLER VERSION! The best....no way, but Jerry is NOODLIN all over, I won't mention Bobby's fuck up...

just replaced my moldy old cassette w/ a fresh sb download just because i remembered the jack straw. off the friggin charts. might be the best. also check out the following deal, jerry's solos over the choruses might be his best on that tune as well. awesome show.

Have to agree on Jack Straw - an A++++ version. And then right into a spirited Deal.

And Peggy O really shows Jerry's strength as a vocalist. Pigpen could bring his bluesy vocals to some great songs but Garcia was able to elevate songs like Stella or Peggy O like no one else.
