AWOPS
AWOPS
defined
• AWOPS is an abbreviation for ALL
  WEATHER OPERATIONS and is
  essentially a set of operating
  minumims with regards to
  weather and facilities for aircraft
  conducting IFR operations
• AWOPS tables appear in section
ENR 1.8 of the AIP primarily
Take off minimums compared with airfield facilities
         Take off alternate requirements
         Non precision minimums
Basic Precision approach minimums
AWOPS En route alternate minimums
format Destination minimums
         LVPS
AWOPS is often done via the aid of a flow chart as outlined later in the
         slides

Lets simplify the take off assessment
Check the METAR/ATIS for Viz/RVR at departure field
Compare the weather above with one of the following:
Aerodrome minima stated on Table 3 from the AIP compared with
Jeppesen chart OR aerodrome chart facilities.

Using the AIP to determine take off
            minimums
Can we land back?
• Refer to what instrument approaches are available if
  required at the departure aerodrome.
• If not possible to land back, select a take off alternate
  within requirements spoken about previously.
• Forecast must be above the minima for landing +- 1
  hour from ETD
• We do not need to enhance the Minima as per other
  airports
• Note that we do not consider ceiling if a precision
  approach is available-only RVR

NOTE
• AWOPS is a planning minima exercise.
Once the flight is dispatched the aircraft
can continue even though the planning
  minima may deteriorate. However they
will still need to meet the system
requirements for the approaches to fly
  them
