SCOPE OF WORKS

The Scope of Works:


Over pumping from existing network IGB 1 to IGB MH 4.8.
Sheet piling for SH#4.8.1
Excavation for the SH#4.8.1
Pipe Connection & Re-purposing of the pumping station in to a manhole.

Survey works, General site clearance/Demolishing Works.


Trench excavation and Sheet piling works, Manhole Construction.
Pipe laying and jointing Works, Backfill of trench, Micro tunnelling. 4
 Road works, Site restoration and coordination with other works.

Conduct pre-deployment inspections for


all heavy equipment prior to use at site
and only deploy after ascertaining

Follow best housekeeping practice

Maintain adequate area lighting

Strict compliance of speed limit.

Persons driving vehicles on site shall hold a valid


driving license

Report all accidents and incidents including near miss


cases.

Smoking is prohibited except in the designated


smoking areas.

Alcohol shall not be consumed during work hours or


immediately prior to commencing work. If you9 are on
medication please inform your line manager.

ACCIDENT, INCIDENT, NEAR MISS
In case of Accident / Incident, Don’t Panic, dial
Project Emergency Number.

Inform immediately to your immediate


supervisor (foreman, engineer, manager) or Site
HSE Officer.

If it’s a personal injury call Site First Aider.

In case of Fire, Use Appropriate Fire Extinguisher


if it’s small and if you are competent in use of fire
extinguisher.

Do not move victim in case of accident by


yourself as it could severe the condition of injury.

One person shall always stay with the victim till


the medical help arrived.

ALL WORKS ON SITE SHOULD COMMENCE IN LINE WITH THE
FOLLOWING:

1. METHOD STATEMENT.

2. RISK ASSESSMENT.

3. POINT OF WORK RISK ASSESSMENT (POWRA).

4. PRESTART – TALK.

5. TOOL BOX TALK RECORD.

6. WORK PERMIT. (If required)

DAILY PRE-START TALK
DAILY PRE-START TALK MUST BE IMPLEMENTED BEFORE COMENCEMENT OF
ANY WORK. OBEY AND LISTEN INTENTLY TO WHAT IS BEING SAID.

EXCAVATION WORKS
A. ALL THE EXCAVATION MUST HAVE PTW
(PERMIT TO WORK ) BY AHC.

B. ALL THE WORK FORCE MUST KNOW ABOUT


THE HAZARDS IN THAT AREA ( E.g:
underground cables , Pipelines ) AND MUST BE
BRIEFED ACCORDINGLY BEFORE WORK
COMMENCES.

C. ALL EXCAVATION WORKS MUST BE


BARRICADED BEFORE EXCAVATING WITH
THE CORRECT BARRICATION AS PER
REQUIREMENTS.

D. EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE PLACED AT LEAST


1.5m AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF THE
EXCAVATION.

E. EXCAVATED MATERIALS SHALL BE PLACED


AT LEAST 3m AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF
EXCAVATION.

F. MUST HAVE THE CORRECT ACCESS & EGRESS


FOR THE WORKERS. (Scaffolding, Ladders,
etc..) 18
WORKING AT HEIGHT

A. WORKER MUST BE TRAINED FOR WORKING AT


HEIGHT.

B. SCAFFOLDERS MUST HAVE PROPER AND VALID


CERTIFICATE.
C. PERMIT SHALL BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO WORK.

D. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY HARNESS.(Above 1.8m)

E. CASTORS MUST BE LOCKED PRIOR TO USE.

F. SCAFFOLDING MUST BE INSPECTED BY THE


INSPECTOR PERIODICALLY AND SCAFF-TAG
(GREEN , RED & YELLOW ) MUST BE ALWAYS
AVAILABLE.

NOTE: LADDERS SHALL NOT BE USED AS WORK


PLATFORM.

LIFTING ACTIVITY
a) ALL LIFTING WORK MUST HAVE THE LIFTING
PERMIT WITH THE RISK ASSESSMENT AND LIFTING
PLAN SHOULD ATTACHED.

b) OPERATOR SHOULD HAVE VALID BAHRANI


DRIVING LICENCE AND 3rd PARTY CERTIFICATE.

c) LIFTING AREA MUST BE BARICADED AND SHOULD


HAVE WARNING SIGNAGE PRIOR TO THE CRANE
SET-UP.

d) DURING THE CRANE SET-UP ALL WORKERS ARE


TO BE OUTSIDE THE BARRICATION.

e) INSPECT THE LIFTING GEARS & ACCESSORIES


FOR DAMAGES FREE BEFORE LIFTING. ENSURE
THE 3rd PARTY CERTIFICATE FOR ALL LIFTING
GEARS AND ACCESSORIES IS AVAILABLE WITH
THEM.

f) RIGGER MUST BE COMPETENT AND HAVE A VALID


3rd PARTY RIGGING CERTIFICATE. ALL LIFTING
MUST HAVE A TAGLINE.

g) NO LIFTING WORK SHOULD COMMENCE WITHOUT
PERMIT AND RIGGER PRESENT.
HOT WORKS
a) ALL HOT WORK ACTIVITIES MUST HAVE A
HOT WORK PERMIT ISSUED BY AHC.

b) ALL WELDERS MUST HAVE VALID 3rd PARTY


CERTIFICATE FOR WELDING.

c) WELDERS MUST WEAR THE PROPER PPE


(Face shield, apron etc.)

d) HOUSE KEEPING SHOULD BE DONE


EVERYDAY BEFORE STARTING THE WORK.

e) WELDER MUST ENSURE THAT THERE IS NO


COMBUSTILE MATERIALS NEAR THE HOT
WORK.

f) WORK AREA MUST BE BARICADED.

g) ALWAYS HAVE A FIRE WATCHMAN


AVAILABLE. HE MUST INSPECT AT LEAST
EVERY 30min AND UP TO 30min AFTER THE
WORK IS COMPLETED

h) FIRE EXTINGUISHER SHOULD BE PLACED 21


NEAR THE WORK AREA
WORK ADJACENT TO LIVE ROAD

• CAREFUL PLANNING WITH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC SCHEME.

• ALL PERMITS SHOULD BE GRANTED PRIOR TO WORK COMMENCING.

• TEMPORARY SIGNAGE AND LIGHTING SHOULD BE CLEANED DAILY.

• ALL PERSONNEL MUST WEAR HIGH VISIBILITY CLOTHING.

• NO WORKERS SHOULD CROSS THE LIVE CARRIAGEWAY.

• WORKERS MUST ALWAYS FACE THE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC FLOW.

• A SAFE ACCESS TO THE WORK PLACE MUST BE PROVIDED.

• CONTINUOUS SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED FOR ALL TRAFFIC WORKS.

• SPECIFIC TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN TO ALL TRAFFIC PERSONNEL.

PROVISION OF FLAGMEN
• ALL MOVING EQUIPMENT MUST HAVE A FLAGMAN.

• NO OPERATOR & DRIVER SHALL REVERSE HIS VEHICLE WITHOUT A BANKSMAN – FLAGMAN.

• FLAGMAN SHOULD ALWAYS STAND WHERE HE CAN BE SEEN BY THE DRIVER – OPERATOR.

• ANY OPERATOR OR DRIVER CAUGHT NOT OBEYING THE FLAGMAN WILL BE PENALIZED.

Managers must have a valid Bahraini driving license to drive on Site.

 REST SHELTERS WILL HAVE ALL EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS
 PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR REST AREA IS BARRICADED AND IN A SAFE
ZONE .

COMMUTING TO WORK

• NO WORKER IS TO EVER CROSS A LIVE ROAD.

• ANYONE CAUGHT IF CROSSING THE LIVE ROAD WILL BE


DISCIPLINERY ACTION SHOULD AGAINST THEM.

• EVERYONE SHOULD WEAR FULL PPE UNTIL YOU GET INSIDE


YOUR TRANSPORT.

• ALL ARE TO WEAR PPE ON SITE, NO EXCEPTIONS.

• FACE MASK MUST BE WEAR ON SITE & WHILE ON TRAVEL.

CHEMICAL HANDLING
 ALL HAZARDOUS AND TOXIC CHEMICALS (ACID, ALKALINES, SOME SALTS,
AND ORGANICS) MUST BE IDENTIFIED.

 MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS MUST BE ACQUIRED AND SPECIFIC


WARNING SIGNS MUST BE SHOWN FOR POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS
CHEMICALS.

 IN TRANSPORT AND TRANSFER OF CHEMICALS, PROPER HANDLING


PRECAUTIONS PROVIDED BY MANUFACTURER MUST BE OBSERVED.

 All CONTAINERS FOR STORAGE SHOULD BE CHEMICAL RESISTANT, LEAKS


FREE, AND WITH GOOD CAPS OF STOPPERS.

 ENSURE THAT HAZARDOUS MATERIALS LIKE NAILS, PAPER, WOODEN


PIECES,WASTE OIL IS REMOVED FROM THE WORK AREA.

 ENSURE THAT WASTE BINS ARE CLEARED WHEN FULL.

 GLOVES AND GOGGLES SHOULD BE USED WHILE HANDLING CHEMICALS


OF TOXIC NATURE .

 IT IS PREFFERES THAT AT LEAST TWO PERSON SHOULD BE PRESENT AT


ALL TIME WHILE WORKING WITH CHEMICALS.

 WHEN YOUR BODY IS CONTACT WITH THE CHEMICAL, FLUSH YOUR BODY
WITH PLENTY OF FRESH WATER AND REPORT THE ACCIDENT TO THE
FIRST AIDER OR NURSE .

 WASTE PRODUCT AND DISPOSAL MUST BE DISCHARGED WITH PROPER


NEUTRALIZATION .

 IF THE MATERIAL TO BE DISPOSED IS EXTREMELY TOXIC OR


POISONOUS,THE MATERIAL SHOULD BE KEPT IN CLOSED CONTAINER AND
SENT TO APPROPRIATE AGENCY FOR PROPAL DISPOSAL.
