MERITS OF KENT REPERTORY
1. Kent repertory is based on philosophy of general(Mental & physical)
to particular,thus making it easier to search for rubrics.
2. Kent repertory contain most of the symptom related to parts as well
as general,thus one who uses this repertory rarely needs to refer to
others repertory.
3. Cross reference are given in parenthesis immediately after the rubric.
4. Remedies are given in 3 graded making it more practical when
compare to BTPB & BBCR.
5. The arrangement of rubrics based on STMEL where all the aspect
related to a rubric can be found in one place.The modifying features
are more elaborated and defined.

6.`This repertory is useful for repertorisation on the basis of Eliminating
rubric.
7. Kent repertory chapter Mind contains many rubrics and subrubrics.It
also contain qualified symptom which are very helpful in repertorisation.
8. This repertory is useful for acute as well as chronic prescription.
9. The Indian edition of kent repertory is added with the sides of the
body and drug affinities taken from Boenninghausen lesser writing and
relating of remedies with duration of action by Gibson Miller.This help a
physician to explore repertory as well as help in prescription.
DEMERITS OF KENT REPERTORY
1. In some parts the rubrics are generalized (chapter mind) where as in
some of there parts the rubrics are over particularized (chapter
Extremities). DR. Pulford.
2. Similar rubrics, with different remedies and with different evaluation
are given in many chapters. This pose difficulties in working out a case,
because the chances of missing out remedy.
Example – “Liquids taken are forced into nose” in chapter THROAT(page
454) & also under the chapter NOSE(pg-340) Rubric “Liquids comes out
through the nose on attempting to swallow”.

3. The philosophy of this repertory is not maintained
throughout specially in the chapter of EXTREMITIES which has
over particulation of symptoms or rubrics.
4. In certain rubric drugs are not well represented,
For example-in Chapter MIND,rubric Benevolence:coff.
there is not mention drugs like causticum.
5.The repertory lacks in the use of Nosodes & Sarcodes-which
are useful for treatment of chronic cases.
6. Some remedies, which are not given in the index, represent
certain rubrics.
Example Nux-J in Talk indisposed to (86); Kali-ox in Insanity
(56).

7.Same meaning slight difference in remedy but present in
various places.
For Eg-Patient does not want the doctor;
WELL,says he is,when very sick(p.95)
IRRITABILITY,send the doctor home,says he is not sick.
8. Kent has given too much importance to the thermal
conditions but unfortunately no single definite rubric.
9. Many mental rubrics has single remedy like consolation
amel: puls.
10. Absent in repertory but present in materia medica:-
For Eg faintness menses during:- cyclamen present in Kent materia
medica but absent in repertory.
