Dessert
is a course that concludes a meal. The course
usually consists of sweet foods, such as confections,
and possibly a beverage such as dessert wine or
liqueur; however, it may also include coffee,
cheeses, nuts, or other savory items In some parts
of the world, such as much of central and western
Africa, and most parts of China, there is no tradition
of a dessert course to conclude a meal.
Confections
are dishes or delicacies made with sweet
ingredients, like a whipped chocolate and
cream confection
The term dessert can apply to many
confections, such as biscuits, cakes,
cookies, custards, gelatins, ice creams,
pastries, pies, puddings, sweet soups,
and tarts. Fruit is also commonly found
in dessert courses because of its
naturally occurring sweetness. Some
cultures sweeten foods that are more
commonly savory to create desserts

Biscuit
is a flour-based baked food product.
Outside, typically hard, flat, and
unleavened. Biscuits can have a texture
that is crispy, chewy, or soft. Examples
include layered bars, crispy meringues,
and soft chocolate chip cookies.
Cakes
are sweet tender breads made with
sugar and delicate flour. Cakes can
vary from light, airy sponge cakes to
dense cakes with less flour.
Chocolate
is a typically sweet, usually brown, food
preparation of cacao seeds, roasted,
ground, and often flavored. Pure,
unsweetened chocolate contains
primarily cocoa solids and cocoa butter
in varying proportions. Much of the
chocolate currently consumed is in the
form of sweet chocolate, combining
chocolate with sugar
Candy

also called sweets or lollies, is
a confection that features
sugar as a principal ingredient.
Many candies involve the
crystallization of sugar which

Examples of Dessert Wines:

flavors.

● Sauternes (France): A rich, honeyed wine with citrus and floral notes.

● Ice Wine (Canada, Germany, Austria): A sweet wine made from frozen
grapes, with intense flavors.
