Channels of communication
Vertical communication
Vertical communication takes place among
people working on different levels on line of
authority.
According to Ricky W. Griffin “Vertical
communication is that flows both up and
down the organization along formal
reporting line.”
This two way flow of communication runs not
only through the organization as whole but
with each individual department.
Vertical communication is divided in two
Upward and Downward.

Upward Communication is the process of
information flowing from the lower

Its is also called as up stream communication.

scheme, complain box, Counseling, Review &
opinion survey.

Informal communication is casual

business structure. It is also called as Grapevine.
