-From the word itself CBT is a training based on competency this implies that training
delivery approach focuses on the competency development of the learner as a result of the
training.

-It points out that the FOCUS is on YOU the learner/ trainer on what can you actually do. We will
FOCUS on OUTCOMES rather than the, is concerned with the attainment and application of
knowledge, skills and attitude near on of knowledge, skills and attitude needed to a specific level
of competency. It is modular, individualized and self-paced.
TRADITIONAL LEARNING
-In a class setting what normally happens is that our teacher teaches specific topic every class
lesson and we learn together with our classmates, finish one topic together and have written
evaluation ALWAYS.

CBT OR COMPETENCY BASED TRAINING
We learn individually in our own preference, because it is self paced and individualized. Prior
learning is recognized, so if you knew already a topic you may proceed to the next topic. You
may conduct practice anytime.
In CBT there are two people involve

-My responsibility is more on monitoring,
guiding and evaluating
your learning outcomes rather than dispensing
knowledge

TRAINE
YourErole is to pursue instructions given to you at
your own pace. You will spend more time for self-
study and practice. Your whole learning will depend
in you according to your own needs and interest.

CBT is based on the following basic
principles:
1.The training is based on curriculum developed from the
competency standards;
2.Learning is modular in its structure;
3.Training delivery is learner-centered and should accommodate
individualized and self-paced learning strategies;
4.Training is based on work that must be performed;
5.Training materials are directly related to the competency
standards and curriculum modules;
6. Assessment is based in the collection of evidence of the
performance of work to the industry required standard;
7.Training is based both on and off the job components;
8.Training program allows for recognition of prior learning(RPL)
or current competencies;
9.Training allows for multiple entry and exit;
10.Training programs are registered with the UTPRAS. ( Unified
TVET Program Registration and Accreditation System.)

1. Support horticultural crop work
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to
support horticultural production under supervision.
It requires the ability to
1. Prepare materials, tools and
equipment for horticultural production work,
2. Undertake
routine production assistance work
3. Handle materials
and equipment
4. Clean up on completion of work.
Supporting horticultural production work
requires knowledge of safe work practices
relating to basic crop handling techniques
including planting, maintaining, picking and
packing, loading and unloading, and using
associated farm tools and equipment.
2.SUPPORT NURSERY WORK
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to carry out work in
wholesale or retail nurseries while under supervision. It requires the ability
to:

1. Prepare materials, tools and equipment for nursery work.


2. Undertake nursery work activities.
3. Store and stockpile
materials.
3. Clean up on completion of work.
Supporting nursery work requires knowledge of safe work practices,
nursery hygiene and quality control, nursery plant maintenance activities,
basic stock control procedures, and propagation techniques.
3. SUPPORT AGRONOMIC CROP WORK
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to support agronomic
cropping work under supervision. It requires the ability to:

1. Prepare materials; tools and


equipment for cropping work
2. Undertake cropping
Activities
3.Handle materials and equipment
4. Clean up on completion of work.

Supporting agronomic cropping work requires knowledge of safe work


practices, cropping practices and related tools and equipment.
4. SUPPORT IRRIGATION WORK
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to support the
installation, operation and maintenance of watering and drainage
systems under direct supervision. It requires the ability to
1. Prepare materials, tools and equipment for irrigation work.
2. Undertake irrigation activities.
3. Handle materials and equipment.
4. Clean up on completion of work.

Supporting irrigation work requires knowledge of safe work practices,


irrigation work techniques, irrigation tools and equipment, and repair
and maintenance of irrigation components and systems.
