• The act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality
(Naiman, 2006).
• Is characterized by the ability to perceive the world in new
ways, to find hidden patterns, to make connections between
seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions.
• Involves two processes: thinking, then producing.
• Creativity requires whole-brain thinking;
• Right brain for imagination, artistry and intuition
• Left brain for logic and planning

Innovation
• Production or implementation of an idea.
• Implementation of a new or significantly improved product,
service or process that creates value for business, government
or society.
• An action or implementation which result in an improvement,
a gain or a profit.
Co-existence
• Creativity is also a discipline and a crucial part of the
innovation equation. There is no innovation without creativity.
• If there is an ideas but don’t act on them, we can call it as
imaginative but not creative.
Exploring creativity and innovation in
multimedia
• The use of constructivist learning principles within the
multimedia design course on students’ creative and critical-
thinking skills, via the design of a multimedia project.
• The project of designing and development of multimedia
project required group collaboration and that student teams
were able to create innovative and engaging applications and
were able to document critical-thinking processes throughout
their project development.
Building and integrating creativity and
innovation in multimedia
• In order to become creative in their thinking and are able
innovate a project:
• Motivation
• Good teamwork and collaboration
• Increased understanding of an idea
• A good multimedia technology (software and hardware)
