Why this Mitigation Measure is Important
Since last many years the Pandoga Nallaha experience severe flooding
problems during rainy season in Pandoga area and resulting in submergence
of low lying area causing water stagnation at several locations making public
life difficult. As well as affecting houses agriculture lands and the socio
economic affairs of inhabitants this area. The Area effected is approximate
20 Hect. and 80 Population will be benefited by providing Flood Protection
Works . The objectives of this project is to construct flood protection work
and cardon off this valuable property from floods and avoid such damages in
future.
Detail of Vulnerable Area
The village Pandoga is lacated on Una- Gagret Main road at a distance of 13
KM from Una Town. During the monsoon season, the water enters in the
cultivated lands. The main occupation of villagers is agriculture and they also
skillfull in others i.e. service men , business men etc. All the structures
existing in downstream of this habitation like, Private land . Abadies of the
area are very scared and they are not developing the land for any type of

purpose.. Therefore it is almost important for Construction of RCC Drains in a
length of 950 Rmt. Providing RCC Drains in a length of 950 mtrs on both
banks related problems faced by the village Pandoga during heavy showers
will be solved.

Necessity of the Project:-
• The Area effected from flood is 20 Hect. and 80 Nos Population.
• The advantage of RCC drains is to control floods and Bank erosion losses. This
can save lives as well as livelihoods and properties.
• Saving the commercial land, houses from floods.
• Saving of human life , cattles & to control spreading of epidemic due to floods.
• Proposed site
Saving of soil erosion, water logging , siltation in the area on account of floods.
• Saving of communication, roads links & Govt. revenue losses due to flood in Khad.
• The beneficial effects were found to be increased flood-free secured land for agriculture,
settlement, industry and infrastructure.

HYDROLOGY & DESIGN CONSIDERATION:-
The Peak Flood Discharge data of Pandoga Khad has been taken from the CWPRS technical report no. 5056 of March
2013. The Mathematical model studies for Swan River and its tributaries has been conducted in year 2013. The
maximum flood discharge of 276.00 cumecs is considered as design discharge.
