Sarojini Naidu: The Nightingale of India

This poem by Sarojini Naidu describes weavers weaving garments that represent different stages of life. In the first stanza, the weavers are making a blue garment for a newborn baby. In the second, they weave a bright purple and green wedding veil for a queen at night. In the third stanza, the solemn weavers work by moonlight to create a white funeral shroud for a deceased man. The poem suggests that life is a tapestry containing both joyous and sorrowful moments.
