O Features e.g Bcc, Cc, reply,

O Mail Server: This is the computer system on the
internet that receives incoming messages and
delivers outgoing messages. Hence the mailbox is
an area allocated inside a mail server for register
users.

O Mail Client: This is a program that enables you
to read and compose e-mail messages and to send
e-mail to and access e-mail from the server. For
instance Outlook Express can be regarded as a
mail client.




Advantages of E-mail

1. E-mail is faster than the traditional postal system
2. An e-mail can be sent and received by another user in
any part of the world in a matter of minutes.
3. E-mail is free for any user apart from the subscriptions
internet fee to the ISP(Internet Service Provider)
4. One mail can be sent to many pupils at the same time.
5. E-mail is very secured than the traditional postal
system

Disadvantages of Email
i. Computer virus can come into your computer via email
ii. email can be intercepted by Hackers hence leading to
unauthorized alteration and manipulation of mails.

Video-conferencing is a system that allows people
to have conversations and meetings with other
people in different locations, but without
leaving their office or home.

2. DISADVANTAGES
Disadvantages of Video Conferencing
The Hardware and Software needed for a
videoconferencing system are very expensive.
Not many people have videoconferencing equipment,
hence very few attendee.




Mobile Telephones
Modern smart-phones can perform a wide variety of tasks:
1. Make and receive telephone calls just about
anywhere
2. Send and receive SMS (short message service) messages
3. Send and receive e-mail
4. Send and receive files such as images, text documents, etc.
5. Edit documents

Demerit of mobiles:

1. Workers never get a chance to 'switch off' since
they can always be contacted - can be stressful
2. Mobiles are easy to lose, and often contain a lot of
personal and/or business information.

Merit
No telephone line is required
Call costs are very low, especially
for long-distance calls
Can include video

'Internet Telephony' means a telephone system that uses the Internet.
Demerit
Require special hardware and an
Internet connection
Not as reliable as normal phones, so
cannot be relied upon for emergency
calls (911, or 999).
Call quality depends on the speed of the
Internet connection

The most well-known public VOIP service is Skype, but there are
others such as
Google Talk, Vbuzzer, Fring, ooVoo, and SightSpeed.
Fax is short for facsimile which means copy.
The sending fax converts the light/dark areas of
the printed document into noises.
These noises travel through the phone system
and are received by another fax machine.
The receiving fax machine converts the noises
into printed marks on a piece of paper - making a
copy of the original document.
